ABSOLUTES
<Equinox> What is absolute in the universe, and what is
changing?
<DaveGregg> The word "absolute"
is
not a term easily applied to any aspect of the Universe, since in even the less
malleable structures of the Physical plane there
is
a constant state of flux and an impetus to grow. This form of evolution,
however, could technically
be
considered an absolute. Evolution, whether it
be
Darwinian or spiritual,
is
a constant in all dimensional worlds, and there
is
not one consciousness, either animate or inanimate, that doesn't seek this form
of progression.
Love, of course,
is
an absolute that embraces and permeates all that
is
and all that ever will
be.
Love
is at
the core of everything that exists, and it
is
the very essence of the Tao and all that you will ever know.
Overall, though, the concept of an absolute in the Universe
is
a bit of a misnomer. The only absolutes that could
be
defined in a truly tangible sense
are
those that either you create or observe, and even those transitory
representations of reality
are
reflections of your own world view and not necessarily those of another.
In the end, however, once the complexity of evolutionary
change
is
compiled and collated, and the illusionary constructs of multi-dimensional
worlds
are
stripped away, the only absolute that truly remains to hold it altogether,
is
love.

ADEPTHOOD
Q. What is an adept?
MICHAEL: Someone
who stands in essence with mastery over the body.
Q. How do you become an adept?
MICHAEL:
Practice.
Q. Can you become an adept in one
lifetime?
MICHAEL: Yes,
but if there is interest in becoming an adept, there have probably been a number
of lifetimes of work leading up to that ambition.
Q. Does soul age play a part in the
ability to reach for adepthood?
MICHAEL: Yes.
Generally, mature and old souls have the interest. Younger souls could achieve
this, but, generally, are not interested because they have other priorities.
Q. Can you become an adept by yourself or
does it require mentoring?
MICHAEL: It is
far easier with effective mentoring. We know of no instances in which it has
been achieved without teachers, although it is possible.
Q. What are the qualities to look for in
choosing an adept as a mentor?
MICHAEL: If you
have set this up as your life task, you no doubt have agreements with one or
more teachers. Find them.
Q. What are the consequences of choosing
such a path?
MICHAEL: It is
not unlike the path of becoming a concert violinist—"normal" life goes out the
window. All focus must be on the goal.
Q. Are unity and telepathy an integral
part of the adept's path?
MICHAEL: Yes.
Q. Can one use Michael as a mentor toward
this goal of adepthood?
MICHAEL: Yes.
Q. What is the focus of an adept?
MICHAEL: The
present moment.
Q. Can you suggest exercises towards this
goal of becoming an adept?
MICHAEL:
Meditation, concentration, and physical practices such as yoga. Martial arts and
athletics can also be useful if they are done with mindfulness.

AIDS
<Francis> I've recently read several websites
that claim AIDS is not the disease its purported to be and that HIV doesn't
cause AIDS. It's been further stated that testing is useless, people in Africa
aren't dying from AIDS, and those supposedly dying worldwide from it are
simply dying from common, everyday diseases.
Is any of the above true? If so, why would
science claim otherwise? Is it the drug companies hoping to make big profits?
Is it a government conspiracy?
<DaveGregg> It is not a
conspiracy.
First, however, we would like to address one of the underlying reasons
behind this pandemic. There have, of course, been many personal motives sought by fragments when
manifesting this disease, but we will primarily examine those objectives
sought on a mass level.
Although the price is
great for many, some soul groups use AIDS as a vehicle to focus more attention
on the often ignored and indigent segments of society. The devastating poverty
that plagues Africa, for example, requires an antidote, and while the remedy
may seem counterproductive, the enormous attention to AIDS has both attracted
the media and galvanized activists to beat the drums of change.
It is true that lessons of
survival are being explored in these third-world regions, but the magnitude of
poverty and suffering has gone beyond the level of conditions many souls feel
is tolerable, and the experiences are no longer considered productive.
The gay community, of
course, has long suffered the indignities of both this disease and
the contemptuous views from
society, but in this case -- where at first the AIDS spotlight resulted in a
backlash against gay lifestyles -- the attention is now being redirected at those who have
long been blinded by
ignorance, and society is learning greater levels of tolerance as a result.
We are not saying that gay men have literally jumped at the chance to die for
this greater cause, but when opportunities presented themselves, the disease has certainly
been used as a crucible to foster greater awareness towards the plights of others.
In regards to your initial
question, AIDS is a systemic condition that opens the floodgates to a variety
of diseases, all dependent upon the locale of the individual and the level of damage to
the immune system. While AIDS may seem non-specific in nature, its insidious
presence is very real. Over time it decimates the immune system of the body,
leaving it unable to guard against attack from opportunistic infections and
diseases that otherwise wouldn't affect individuals with healthy immune
systems.
It is true that
pharmaceutical companies have leveraged themselves into positions of huge
profit from this disease, but they are merely taking advantage of an existing
opportunity. The many claims that dispute the existence of AIDS mostly
fall into realms of pseudoscience and various states of denial. What you
choose to believe, however, is ultimately a matter of your own personal
validation.

ALCOHOLISM (Reasons
for)
Q. As a former drug and alcohol counselor
it seems to me that people have very different reasons for alcoholism. Can
Michael comment on the various reasons people drink? In other words do different
soul ages and overleaves effect the reasons for drinking problems? How about
body types?
MICHAEL: All
these things play a part. Basically, many bodies find alcohol pleasurable
because it interrupts the mind's ability to impose tensions on it. If a person
has disciplined his mind not to impose unnecessary tensions on the body, alcohol
will have little appeal.
Q. What percentage of human beings have
achieved that discipline?
MICHAEL: Few,
but a large minority are free enough from excessive tensions for alcohol not to
be particularly attractive.
Q. For those who haven't, please comment
on using alcohol to relax.
MICHAEL: This is
a choice. In moderation, it is not a problem.
Q. What about the connoisseur and others
who like the taste?
MICHAEL: That is
also a choice, and often hearkens back to past lives in which the soul was a
vintner.
Q. What about the use of "light libation"
as part of true rest?
MICHAEL: For
some, drinking is not just about the drink consumed but is part of a ritual of
creating a space for relaxation; it is the setting aside of time for self not
unlike meditation.
Q. How much drinking results in a
significant loss of brain cells? Health?
MICHAEL: One
light drink a day does not result in a significant loss of brain cells and can
actually aid health, especially in those who do not otherwise eat or drink
enough fruit or other healthy acids such as apple cider vinegar.
Q. Which roles and overleaves have a
greater problem with alcohol abuse?
MICHAEL:
Obviously, self-destruction; also greed. Jovial and venusian body types tend to
be more indulgent. All roles can enjoy alcohol, especially in social situations,
because it is associated with conviviality--one doesn't normally associate
alcohol with work. Sages and artisans, who specialize in socializing, can be
particularly vulnerable to overdoing it. Also, with their more sensitive
natures, alcohol can be attractive for dulling unwanted feelings. On the other
hand, warriors and kings tend to have sturdy constitutions and can enjoy alcohol
in large quantities as a way to intensify feelings by allowing their defenses to
come down.

ALTERNATE UNIVERSES
Q. Are there alternate universes on the
physical plane?
MICHAEL:
Yes. There are multiple dimensions on every plane. Because of the solid nature
of the physical plane, you are usually able to be aware of only one at a time.

ANGER
Stopping Anger Once It Occurs
Dealing with anger once caught within it's throes requires
immediate action. Most fragments either express their rage with great abandon
or repress the expression, storing it for later. A less stressful approach is
to simply ground yourself against the charge. This idea is similar to the way
a lightning rod works, where the rod offers a low resistance path that directs
any harmful electrical currents away from a structure and into the ground.
To make yourself into a human lightning rod that
neutralizes angry feelings, your body must become a conductor that re-directs
the energy into the Earth.
We suggest the following:
Stand straight, but not rigid, and let your arms dangle
loosely. The natural tendency during a bout of anger is to tense the body like
a snake coiling to strike, but that only intensifies the anger and pushes it
to the breaking point. Relaxing the muscles, however, stops the energy from
reaching a critical mass, which then allows the negative charge to flow
through your body unobstructed till it dissipates harmlessly. The angry
feelings may run up and down your body for a short duration, but if you remain
loose and relaxed -- almost like a rag doll -- your body will provide a low
resistance path for the charge to pass through and eventually the intensity of
the energy will fade.

ANIMALS
Agreements
with
Q. Do some souls make agreements with
animals prior to incarnating to work with them, care for them, or to better
communicate with them? And, if so, how does this impact the soul, the animal,
and the world?
MICHAEL: Yes,
there are agreements with animals prior to incarnation. Animals are very much
part of the spiritual ecology of physical plane life; they are not just add-ons.
Animals like to be involved with human beings because it is "where the action
is"; it stimulates their growth. Conversely, animals help and teach humans as
well.
Killing Animals
Q. I have always been interested in the
ramifications surrounding the choices people make regarding eating meat or not
eating it, and being a vegan.
What about killing spiders, mosquitoes, and stepping on and extinguishing the
lives of every bug our shoes come in contact with
MICHAEL: Killing
animals is not ideal but you do not live in an ideal world. Dealing with the
issues around this provokes much growth.
It comes down to one's attitude: it is a very different thing to kill out of
necessity with respect than it is to kill unnecessarily and with cruelty and
greed.
There is no absolute here, but a continuum. It really isn't a significant thing
to kill an insect that has a very short lifespan anyway. However, giving thought
to even that is good work.
Animals and Choice
Q:
Could Michael talk about choice as it relates to animals. Are they able to make
choices, or is everything instinctive? What would be required in order to
"bestow" free will on a animal in order for it to experience being human?
MICHAEL: Animals make choices within a much narrower
range than sentient souls. In general, companion animals have a slightly wider
range than those in the wild. Being exposed to the choice-making of humans (in
your case) helps them evolve faster. They get a taste of what is to come in
their evolution. Still, their range remains quite narrow. Also, the range of
choice is generally wider among animals who function more independently than for
pack animals.
<LaurelB> This would be a cat.
MICHAEL: Again, their range remains relatively narrow.
Yes, cats are an example of both. There are also differences in range among
humans. Obviously, children have a narrower range than adults. Younger souls
have a narrower range than older souls. One can only choose what one can
conceive of. In general, older souls can conceive of more possibilities. This
makes choosing more challenging; presumably, older souls are also better
equipped to meet that challenge. The wider the range of choice, the more an
individual can create his/her reality. From your point of view on the physical
plane, evolution is painstakingly slow. Therefore, an animal would not
realistically reach the point of sentience within time frames that are
meaningful to you.
Each of us are students of the spiritual path. Consider how much you have
learned about making choices just in this lifetime. Still, it is just a fraction
of all there is to learn. That is why the soul seeks a variety of experiences--
to give you a more rounded education in choice-making.

<SRG> What happens to the soul of an animal when
a most beloved pet is very sick and has to be " put down"? I am feeling immense
guilt, as this beloved kitty was my best and dearest friend....
<Iris>What do the Michael Teachings say about the
souls of animals vs. humans.
Can animals come back as humans or humans come back as animals?
<DaveGregg>
Animals are not just decorations created to adorn the planet you live on. They
are evolving sparks of consciousness that live their lives with a purpose.
The fundamental
difference between the animal and the human soul is the level of complexity:
animals are instinctive centered, they live in the moment, and by human
standards they are mostly incapable of abstract thought. On the other hand,
their individual expression of consciousness is not dependent upon having a
human experience in order to evolve, nor should they be compared in human terms
for their lives to have meaning. Their lives are yet another infinite way in
which the Tao may be expressed and there is no other meaning required.
Animals do not
incarnate as humans and upon death they rejoin their central source. Euthanasia
can be a humane choice for an animal that is dying and in great pain; however,
your society often uses the practice as a convenience in ridding themselves of
the burden of caring for an ailing pet.

ART
Artistry, for example,
usually suggests more the emotional center, but there is clearly an intellectual
and physical component to it. Some artists use their intellectual center more
than others. All use their body to some extent.
Art generally speaks more to the
emotions, but some people access it more intellectually or tactilely. We are
using artistry as a prime example of wholeness because many of you are feeling
an opening into greater artistry. Your society is a bit elitist about art; many
won't go near it because they feel they have little talent, and if they can't be
"good," let alone great, they don't want to risk the judgment of others.
However, in some cultures, art is seen as being for everyone to both enjoy and
practice. Perhaps it would be well to approach it as you do with children,
encouraging their expression without being too concerned about their technical
proficiency.
Artistic expression can balance
one's life like almost no other activity. Ask yourself what you would do if you
could in the artistic realm. Whatever comes to mind is likely to be something
essence is longing to express itself through. If you think you long to be a
concert pianist but cannot play piano, you might simply reinterpret the longing
as a desire to make music. Ask yourself what forms of expression now available
to you call to you. Perhaps singing in a chorus or attending a drumming circle.
Perhaps you long to dance but judge your body and/or your skills. Consider
putting on music you like and dancing alone, for the time being, in your private
place.
Human beings are, by nature,
artistic beings. The ability to manipulate the environment implies doing so with
maximum choice and flair. That's artistry. There can be artistry in every aspect
of life, including business, food preparation, and so forth. Every conversation
is a chance to create, to express yourself with originality and vividness.
However, the areas normally considered to be artistic focus on creativity as
opposed to just getting the job done, so they are ideal for self-expression.
There have been great musicians, painters, etc., of all seven roles, so don't
think that you are limited if you aren't an artisan or a sage. If you *are* an
artisan or a sage, and you don't have a creative outlet in your life, you are
likely to suffer the most for that lack.

ASCENSION
Q. There is much speculation in the New
Age community about the Ascension or Shift of planetary consciousness and of its
peoples. Some say we are headed for the 4th dimension, some say the 5th, and
some say there are/will be two Earths forming, the old energy world and the new.
Michael, what is your take on this subject?
MICHAEL:
Ascension refers to a rising of human consciousness out of the rather extreme
negativity that has characterized it, as a whole. This is occurring because
humanity, by and large, is ready to experience that--it has wrung just about as
much growth out of the status quo as it can. Still, there are those so attached
to the negativity that they will likely spin off a parallel where they continue
to "play with" it longer.
[EDITOR'S NOTE: In Shepherd's book
"Journey Of Your Soul" he mentions that the current ascension shift will not
happen overnight, and will probably take a thousand years until the process is
complete.

*************************************
Q. What does Michael believe people on earth
should do in order to move themselves from
3D (third dimension)
to 4th dimension
to 5th dimension
to 6th dimension
to 7th dimension
all the way up to 12D
A. Guidance in this area is difficult to
address due to the misunderstandings surrounding this movement. We will say that
the ability to transcend current physical structures inherent in the human body,
such that an individual could assume placement in other dimensional vibrations,
is not likely to occur for quite some time. Many individuals who propagate
ascension beliefs are guilty of fanciful thinking here. While there is merit in
some of the theories, the majority of the concepts have been misinterpreted by
those channeling the information. In short, the theory of ascension has been
widely misunderstood. Ascension describes a spiritual evolution that occurs in
nonphysical dimensions. It was never intended that these precepts be applied to
physical plane paradigms. It is true that the vibrational rate of the soul will
increase as the level of sentience sharpens, but an evolutionary progression
where the human species uniformly advances is not likely to happen in this
millennium.
Q. Is it true "old" souls are the only ones that will have
the ability to ascend,
and, stay on/or cycle back into this place that is currently called earth ?
A. It is not true in the sense that you describe.
Current views of ascension, with its obvious parallel to the Christian
resurrection, often portrays a select group of individuals that will ascend to
higher dimensions while others are left behind. But all souls walk the same path
and all souls are granted the freedom to pursue the lessons or experiences they
desire. It is a privilege to incarnate. The soul does not yearn to transmigrate
before a series of fruitful incarnations have been completed. The physical is
both school and playground for the soul.
True ascension is
most applicable when compared to the shift in conscious required to evolve
through the seven planes of existence:
Physical, Astral, Causal, and so forth.
In this case we are all ascending. But these are gradual shifts that occur during the
natural progression back to the Tao.
On a personal level, we
see ascension manifested when fragments spend more time in the positive poles of
their overleaves and have obliterated their chief features. When society
learns to do this en masse, that's ascension. Beyond that, notions that a
human body can suddenly travel through radically different dimensions, even
though it was genetically created to breathe oxygen, is simply a distortion
propagated by the belief systems of various channels.
Q. What is the highest level of ascension any earth bound soul
has attained ?
A. Some souls have attained startling insights that
allowed them to peek into worlds beyond the physical limitations of the human
body. But this was not due to the process of ascension.
CHANNELED BY: Dave Gregg
*************************************
Q: It
is my 'understanding' that the Earth herself, as a living organism, has chosen
to ascend from the third dimension through the fourth to the fifth, and that
this is occurring and will/could be achieved within the next six years. Will
Michael please comment and/or provide illumination on this very hopeful event
and how I and all of us here tonight can best assist?
MICHAEL: What many hopefully term as ascension
is simply the shift in energy focus from one stage to another. This is all part
of human development. That is not to say that this development has not speeded
up to some extent in the recent past, because it has. Yours is beginning to show
signs of becoming a dying planet, and all human development has increased in
speed in order to come to a place at some time in the future where a decision
can be intelligently made as to where to continue life for those still in
mid-cycle. However, we see that the time frame of six years from now that you
mentioned is quite premature. What is occurring now and will continue to do so
within that time is as we said a continuance of a shift that has been occurring
for approximately thirty-five years. That is not to say that many will not
notice a difference within that time period, because many of the more astute
will have awareness on some level of this shift. The best way to assist in this
is to hold the knowledge, if you choose to, of stewardship for the planet on
which you live. It will be impossible to maintain its viability without some
dramatic changes. Many of you here have awareness of this and continue to hold
your home in a place of expectancy. That is helpful. Send, then, your awareness
around the globe to awaken others to this situation.
Q: In
this new era we are creating or moving to, my understanding is
that we will be vibrating at a higher rate, both as people and as a
planet. Can you talk more about this? How does this happen? What
changes does this produce in one's life or in the world around us?
M: While it is true that changes are occurring to the
human race on
a vibrational level, we would say that these changes are quite small
and, for the most part, imperceptible. Only a few fragments will
ever notice a change within their lifetimes, and these fragments are
rare indeed, having come equipped, you might say, with
the "apparatus" to sense such a change. It is true as well, as like
follows like, that the planet as a whole is also changing on a
vibrational level. This may be sensed by more than just a few,
although again only a very few will really know what it is. The
vibrational changes that are occurring are simply a part of the
generational and genetic changes that occur in a species over time.
We see that "lightness" is a quality that will be necessary for
humans in time to come, and the raising, ever so slightly, of the
average vibration will help enhance this quality. When we
say "lightness", we mean a difficult-to-quantify expression of a
term that occurs when a being holds the vibrational level at a
higher-than-normal rate so as to access enhanced levels of
understanding and awareness. Again, we state that for the most
part, changes in these levels will not be felt or sensed by the
majority of fragments. The purpose, then, of these changes, is to
further enhance the growth and understanding of the fragments still
extant on the physical plane. We should point out also that these
changes, or similar ones, have been occurring in the human race for
the past 20,000 years and will continue to do so until the last
fragments cycle off the physical plane from the planet known as
Earth.

ASTROLOGY
Q:
Michael, please share your views about astrology. Is it something we are
collectively creating and then becoming influenced by, or is there something
real that we are discovering?
Is there any analogy between astrological sun/moon/AC -signs and the inner role/overleaves?
MICHAEL: We have answered this question in the past,
but we are here to answer it again. Yes, there is something real in astrology as
you know it. There are many factors that influence the human fragment and the
timing of the birth is one of them. Unfortunately there is more to this than can
be measured by your science. The moment of conception is more relevant to the
pattern of a fragment's true personality than the moment of birth. We
understand, however, that the moment of conception is not usually one that can
be documented. Therefore, a second-best alternative is to set up the chart
according to the tables that exist for the moment of birth. We repeat here that
a professional astrologer with a strong connection with the work will interpret
the chart himself, rather than relying on the fixed interpretations available in
published materials.
The influences of the planets and their aspects is one of a particular type of
energy. This energy is translated into words by the medium of astrology and can
assist the fragment in undertaking to express certain elements in his true
personality. There is an overlap, usually, between the individual overleaf chart
and the astrological chart. Consider both as written symbols of an energetic
reality. In this way you will not be tempted to make either an oracle.
If either your overleaves or your astrological positioning were indeed immutable
in their effect on your ability to freely choose, then there would be no reason
for your life. The circumvention of free will is anathema to your existence. All
is choice. We cannot say this too often. Given that, what sense does it make to
imbue something like your birth time with the power to interfere with that
choice?
There is a very long history of sound astrological study and understanding in
human history. Be wary, however, of the attempt to predict the future using this
information. Many energies, not just those of the planets and their aspects,
converge on any event, major or minor, and these energies may be in conflict
with one another. Serious astrologers have accurately predicted events in the
history of nations and of individuals. But this accuracy is predicated on the
connection that the practitioner has with Essence, not with Venus trine Neptune.
There is a synergy in all areas of creation. This synergy is apparent in the
workings of various methods of understanding the world beyond the senses.
Astrology is a kind of bridge between this unseen world and the physical world.
With the appropriate apparatus you can view the planets that appear on a piece
of paper mis-named a 'star' chart. This is the physical, sensible occasion of
astrology. The interpretations, which have been applied by yourself or another
who is connected to Essence in a very particular way, comes from the meta-world,
that which is beyond/outside the senses. Therefore, use it as you would any
other aid in working out your life path. It is only one of the several available
to you.
CHANNELED BY: Nancy Gordon
<David B> As you no doubt know, traditional astrology is based
on the use of 12 signs, and 12 houses. Now, in the Michael teachings, the number
seven is always stressed.
My question is therefore: Would it be useful and advisable to
use an alternative method of the division of the heavens, based on 7? That is,
one could, starting from zero degrees Aries, divide the zodiac into seven signs
instead of 12. (Each one would comprise 51 degrees, 26 minutes of arc). And if
such a system would indeed be useful, could Michael give a short description of
the basic meaning of each of the resulting seven phases, that could then be used
as a basis for interpretation?
<DaveGregg> Your astrology is not based on principles that
govern the entire Universe, but instead relies on quadrants directly
applicable to your own corner of the solar system. Astrology as you know it
would be radically different if applied to another planet with different
coordinates and star systems.
Michael math, on the other hand, is applicable anywhere you
travel in the Universe, whereas astrology is not. Therefore, altering the
zodiac to conform to the law of seven would have no beneficial outcome other
than to dismantle the astrological system into segments no longer recognizable.
In short, astrology is
based on physical constructs, where Michael math permeates into everything.

ATHEISTS
Q: Why
are some people atheists, denying any sort of higher reality?
M: Fear, and choice, as well as
imprinting, all bring about this denial of what is. But do not be deceived into
thinking that believing in, for instance, the Tao, or not believing in the Tao
is better than the other. What is of importance, of course, is that Essence
experiences all that there is to experience on the physical plane before moving
on to other sorts of experiences. Denying the existence of the Tao is certainly
one experience on the physical plane, one choice.

ATLANTIS
Q. Why have no physical remains of the
Atlantean civilization been detected?
MICHAEL: Remains
have, in fact, been found, in various ruins and excavations throughout the
Atlantic. Atlantean influences can also be seen in their colonies in Egypt and
the Americas.
CHANNELED BY: Shepherd Hoodwin
Q.
Talk about the ancient civilization of Atlantis.
<DaveGregg> Atlantis is a highly debated topic in spiritual
circles. Much of the information currently circulating, however, has either
been heavily romanticized or distorted to serve the individual beliefs of the
channel.
Atlantis
never existed in the way that's often portrayed
by
psychics and
pseudo scientists. Plato invented this allegory to teach about the dangers of
complacency in a society that had come to believe in the mythology of
its
own greatness. In many ways the story of Atlantis parallels the arrogance that
has dominated the political and corporate powers in the United States, and
serves as a reminder that even the most impregnable societal structures can
easily collapse overnight.
T he
collapse of the ancient Minoan civilization
was,
of course,
the real-life
basis for Plato's story, along with references to other ancient civilizations
remembered from pre-history.
The Minoans
were
a highly sophisticated and peaceful society, with an appreciation for the arts,
architecture, recreational sports, and technology that included indoor plumbing.
Minoans worshiped female deities and their government
was
surprisingly
democratic in it's views of social equality, allowing women prominent societal
positions, despite a power structure ruled by a King and Priests.
Their economy was
based on trade and mercantilism and they
mostly led lives of leisure.
Unfortunately, an
active volcano was on the small island they used as their main outpost, and
while the rest of the Minoan populace lived on a larger island some distance
away, the distance was not enough.
The volcanic blast was
one of the largest natural explosions in history and when the ensuing tidal
waves slammed into the smaller island, parts of the island did appear to sink,
due to gaping holes left in the center that quickly filled with water.
The enormity of the
blast
was
like an atomic explosion, and Minoans not killed
by
the initial shockwave or the searing gas, drowned
when
the tidal waves followed. The great walls of water, some towering a hundred
feet,
were
both beautiful and terrifying to behold. Still, many Minoans who gathered away
from the coast managed to survive.
Months
afterwards, however, ash continued to cover everything, poisoning the
agriculture and killing the livestock that subsisted on it. Many Minoans also
died from the prolonged inhalation of the ash.
Needless to
say, the economic collapse this caused dealt the final blow to the Minoan
people, and although segments of the population carried on for a number of
years, the government had lost it's sovereignty and neighboring hostile tribes
began to invade, systematically destroying what was left of this once great
civilization.

AUTISM
Q. Cause of autism?

has many possible causes. One is that highly sensitive souls who have avoided

finally enough awareness of such things that they can hope to be met with
understanding rather than ridicule.

Q: It has been said that the vibrational
rate of a civilization will
eventually increase until it's no longer considered physical. How
will this work?
A: All civilizations span a grand cycle of evolution
and this
involves experiencing slightly higher tiers of physicality that more
accurately reflect the overall state of sentience. There is also a
physical evolution that the body undergoes to support this gradual
increase in awareness. But the current timeline being projected by
many channels is off by a wide margin here. Your civilization is
still a long way from even manifesting its true personality on a
collective level, and actual evolutionary changes to the human body
are not likely to happen on a noticeable scale for quite some time.
The density shifts you speak of are not something that can occur on
a mass level until all fragments involved in the incarnational
process have sufficiently assimilated the physical plane lessons and
perspectives they chose to experience. After that time a
civilization can choose to evolve to a higher vibrational state.
This does not mean that a human body made of flesh and bones will
suddenly alter its molecular structure and transform into a light
being overnight. The choice to experience physicality at a higher
vibrational rate is a complex and mass decision that requires
cooperation on a grand scale. It should also be pointed out that
these various levels of density are still below the vibrational rate
of the astral plane. The evolutionary progression of a civilization
does not exclude it from assimilating the lessons and experiences
required in the incarnational game, which means progressing through
the planes of existence: Physical, Astral, Causal, and so on.

BEGINNINGS
Michael: We are here. We bring our energy to join with those of
you here and together we make a glowing bridge across the planes.
This is a time of beginnings for many of you. One of the qualities of
beginnings is the eagerness to look forward. But beginnings imply endings
also. One of the qualities of endings is the chance to total up the measures of
accomplishments. What if the ending does not seem to capture very much in the
way of accomplishment? Does that mean it has been for nothing? Was its
beginning a mistake?
You who are tuned to our teachings know that no action is without merit. But if
it does not seem to have attracted the accolade 'Well done!' you think it must
carry forward some shadowed impression into the future. Nothing could be
farther from the truth we share. You may, in your personality, be unaware of
anything to be content about, but we remind you that You, in your Higher Self,
will know better.
Endings and beginnings are part of the space/time qualities of the physical
plane. Beyond it they have no meaning. But within the physical plane they mark
off openings and closings and offer a means for looking at one's life in parts.
The whole is often a blur, but in parts you can assess where you have been.
Then it is the forward, the beginning again, that draws you on.
If human beings did not have the opportunity to look ahead, it would be almost
impossible to close off anything, and if you could not close, you would not be
able to start again. That is the 'good work' of beginnings and endings. Think
of the seasons: each comes and goes, begins and ends. Think of work planned,
accomplished, begun and ended. The opportunity to start again always brings with
it a lightening of the spirit.
We do not suggest that you forget the past, in this case the immediate past, but
we do offer this thought: What has been attempted and has reached some kind of
conclusion, is finished. Even that which carries over into the new beginning is
concluded to a certain extent. And that is the light of the next step. Hold to
the possibilities. Let the next beginning open your heart and mind to the work
of your soul. Ends and starts are the stuff of the world. If you choose to
make use of them, the path forward becomes less tiresome.

BIBLICAL
<Meg> How does Michael view
the Bible. Will it ever be able to replaced or added to fit more of the current
times and growth.
<DaveGregg> We see the bible as a
cultural relic from the past, and like all antiquities, recognize the
influential role it played in history. The bible is like a time capsule, if you
will, and once opened you find yourself instantly immersed in the dogma and
beliefs of an ancient culture. While the inclusion of the Logos is perhaps the
most redeeming quality in the document, many of these passages have been
distorted to the point of mere anecdotal merit.
The word of God, of course, is not
represented in the bible any more than what you would find in other religious
texts. In fact, what you ultimately find in the bible is the word of...man.

Q. My question
concerns the relationship between the figure in Indian mytho-history, Krishna,
and Jesus. In recent history their archetypal mythologies have a lot of
parallels, and I am asking Michael what they would offer in terms of information
about the relationship between Krishna and Christ?
Shepherd/Michael: This is a beautiful question and we would like to invite
the whole group that is listening to notice how the question itself put you more
in your higher centers. Take a moment to feel how this affected you.
Incidentally, we are not implying that higher centers are better centers because
obviously you need them all.
Of course, both
were vessels for the Infinite Soul, and both, therefore, were subject to a lot
of mythology. The reason this inevitably occurs is that people tend to become
bogged down in the lower centers because, though-out history most people have
been sufficiently worried about their own survival that there hasn’t seemed to
be a lot of space left over for contemplating the higher centers. Suddenly,
then, it seems that the Infinite Soul , the Transcendental Soul or indeed any
relatively enlightened teacher comes along and brings part of the puzzle that
the human psyche has made little room for. And so, people generally don’t know
what to make of it, and so they impose explanations to try to make sense of what
they are witnessing. And often people are a little lazy in just grabbing
whatever explanation seems to be convenient. A similar sort of laziness has been
evident in both sides of the presidential campaign in the United States -sort of
a knee-jerk desire to explain the other in terms of a sound bite; so some of
these legends are the ancient equivalent of sound-bites.
These souls who
turn over their well-honed personalities to the Infinite Soul or the
Transcendental Soul or other high teachers all know one another. Of course, we
are speaking here of the astral connection. They all work together with many
others. This is not a secret society. This is a loose, informal association of
souls who dedicated themselves for quite a long time to the larger evolutionary
issues of human souls. Your view of them as humans may be quite worshipful but
their view of one another, and the general view of them on the astral, might be
more comparable to how people view respected diplomats. Being a diplomat
requires a certain set of skills. In their professional capacity they have to
set aside much of their own personality, and instead, their personal desires
become subsumed by the larger good that they are working for. We are not here
speaking of diplomats who are more self-centered and concerned only about their
own country and the advantages they can win for it but those who are widely
acknowledged as wanting to help. If you were to sit in on a gathering of some of
these souls on the astral – which you are able to do, in fact, - they are not
closed gatherings – just as you can turn on your television and watch congress
convening, although it may not be very interesting all the time, you would see
souls who are similar in their dedication to helping provide an optimal
environment for the growth of all humans. Another analogy for them would be
faculty of a fine university and how they might come together for panels across
their disciplines, be respected for their knowledge and teaching abilities. We
don’t think that any of these great souls are all that impressed with
themselves. It really is true that the more you know, the more that you know
that you don’t know. They do not see themselves as objects of worship but simply
as dedicated public servants.
There are not that many souls who are cut out for that sort of thing. Part of
the reason that the host for the Infinite and the Transcendental Souls are late
level old is that it is not until then that it is even appropriate to subsume
the personality. It is a little bit like an elderly person who is able to say ‘I
have lived my life, it has been full and good and I don’t need to focus so much
on my own personal relationships now, so therefore I could go run for the school
board’ - which is a different point of view than for someone who has his or her
own school children in the school system. In the real world, of course, you can
have both but for the purposes of the analogy here the point is that it is not
appropriate for most souls to divert their attention to the non-personal
prematurely. It is also a truism that teaching is one of the most educational
experiences one can have. So those who devote themselves in this way benefit
themselves. It is analogous to those who channel. There are not a lot of people
for whom such a vocation is appropriate. It is similarly a subsumation of the
personality, and yet the channel is privileged to be part of an educational
process so it is not seen as a sacrifice.
The
soul who was known as Krishna had a long history on the physical plane of
helping people to get along with each other. Because human beings are a
relatively aggressive species it is helpful when there are some persuasive
diplomats around who are good at convincing people to pause before going to war,
and this soul was superb at convincing people to put the brakes on in that
regard. So, he was an expert in understanding how groups behave. There are some
souls who are expert in the reverse of this –of exciting people to war – it is
really a similar skill but turned inside out.
The
soul who is Jesus has been more interested in individual transformations.
Performing healings on people is really about showing them the power that they
have within them. These are complementary skills, one more focused on the
individual as it relates to the group, the other more on the group as it relates
to the individual. Does this answer your question?
Beautifully so. Is it true that the Infinite Soul displaces always a 7th
level old King and what you call the Transcendental Soul replaces a 7th
level old Priest, or is that too absolute?. Were Krishna and the one they call
Jesus both Kings?
Shepherd/Michael: Yes, both are kings. We do not think it would always have
to be in this configuration but it does make a lot of sense to do it that way.
Considering the demands of the Infinite Soul a personality conditioned by the
presence of a powerful King would be the least likely to fall apart with the
demands of the Infinite Soul.

Q.
I have a question about the gospel of Thomas found in the Nag Hammadi library
that was discovered recently. I need to know if the Gospel of Thomas is a true
reckoning of the life of Christ, and also what is the missing word where Jesus
blesses Mary?
SHEPHERD/MICHAEL: We would say it is about 55% accurate and the rest
embellished. One thing that would help in understanding this is that throughout
most of history writers did not feel an obligation to be factual the way that it
is taken for granted now. Today, if you were to do what Thomas did you would be
expected to tell people up front that the account is partially fictionalized.
Through out most of history, writers have felt that they were the ones writing
it, and they got to say whatever they wanted to. There wasn’t the concept of
‘journalism’. Yet modern people look back and expect it to be in alignment with
today’s sense of journalistic integrity.
Bear in
mind that for most of history many people did not read and write and so there
was not considered to be a mass audience. Certainly there was no best seller
list and no hope of large financial gain for the most part. So, if you get
around 55% accuracy, that is really pretty good for the time. Part of the
inaccuracy is just the way that people remember things and when the stories are
told and retold they tend to be more distorted. If you have some elders in your
family they don’t always remember what actually happened; they may have
‘improved’ the story so many times that they only recall the improved version.
And then someone else may hear them tell it who has not been hearing the
enhanced story and say ‘no that is not what happened at all; this is what
happened - I was there’ and that might be their own enhanced version.
There
are very few ancient historical accounts that were recorded like a journal at
the time. Not many really had the leisure to sit down and write what today would
be called journals. That was something maybe for the rich, but because there
wasn’t really the audience for the rich’s words back then that there is today,
there was also not a lot of incentive to write about what you could later look
back at and can say were historical events. At the time they may not have seemed
so important.
To a
lot of people, Jesus was roughly the equivalent of a Paris Hilton – a
troublemaker - someone just stirring up the gossip, so forth. In your own life
you may have noticed that you don’t always know what the important events were
until you get beyond those.
You
asked about a missing word and that we don’t have an answer to. We suspect that
was part of the fictionalized account. Do you have further questions about this?
There is also a
Gospel of Mary which is supposed to have recorded directly the sermons of Jesus.
Was Mary doing that and was she his main disciple?
SHEPHERD/MICHAEL: We don’t think that Jesus would have made a hierarchy of his
disciples. Old Kings are very good at recognizing the contribution that each
person has to make and not necessarily in a hierarchical fashion but in a
holistic fashion. However, Mary was extremely intelligent and it would not
surprise us if he felt that she got what he had to teach better than most. She
was quite insightful in her own right. She was not just a student but also a
teacher. She had been respected, what you might call, a wise woman, from an
early age. She was one of those children who amazed people with her
understanding. We do think that she recorded some things, and then we think
others embellished, as usual.
All
this brings up the question you didn’t ask but is implied: “So what do you do
with this stuff when you don’t know what is real and what is embellished or
entirely made up”?
The way
we would approach it is to view all spiritual teachings that have passed into
literature as allegories. It doesn’t seem that important if they happened or
not. What is important is do they speak to you in some important way.

BODYTYPES
Q: Would the Michaels comment on the
"natural" type of food for different body types? By natural I mean that since
each body type is governed/influenced by a specific gland, they tend to have
their specific, "typical" problems or weaknesses. What I am asking is: are there
certain guidelines concerning food the different body types should keep in mind
in order to stay healthy and balanced, and avoid the usual health problems of
their type?
MICHAEL:
Some general guidelines:
LUNARS should eat a fairly light
diet in terms of carbohydrates, with moderate protein and fat. They should avoid
hormones, as they are especially sensitive to such additives in meat and dairy
products.
SATURNIANS can eat a hearty diet,
with heavier foods of all types.
JOVIALS do best when they eat with
the seasons, heavier in cold weather and lighter in warm, eating foods when they
are in season.
MERCURIALS
need to be especially
careful with stimulants and sugars. A fairly high carbohydrate intake is often
warranted for them.
VENUSIANS do well with a lot of
fruits and vegetables, and not a lot of other foods.
MARTIALS need to balance
themselves with ample carbohydrates and fat, and a steady amount of small
servings of protein. The 40/30/30 diet is appropriate for martials.
SOLARS types have a delicate
digestion and do best with foods that are easily digested. Food combining can be
especially helpful for them.

CAUSING HARM
Q. I understand Michael's teaching
regarding the necessity of both causing harm and being harmed in order to
evolve. The question I struggle with is regarding the magnitude of suffering
being caused through wars, genocide, terrorism; why are these very harsh actions
happening and why have we not learned, through so many lifetimes, not to hurt
one another?
MICHAEL:
Learning does occur, but it is a slow process. Until recently, there were always
newborn souls coming along who needed to learn the lessons as the old souls
cycled off. This is, by nature, an aggressive planet. It is a pressure cooker.
Growth comes relatively quickly compared to gentler planets, but with more
violence.

CETACEANS
<Barblu> Are the whales and dolphins going to be
ok given the increasing pollution of the ocean?
<ShepherdHoodwin> M: They are suffering and are beginning to alter their
movement in order to seek cleaner waters. However, we would think that before
humans are able to make the oceans uninhabitable for cetaceans, they would have
made their immediate environment uninhabitable. So we think that cetaceans
would survive, but probably not without increased suffering.
<Barblu> So we should watch the
"canaries"? Is their unusual aggression any part of this?
<ShepherdHoodwin> Yes. Pollutants are causing some mental illness among
cetaceans, as they also are among humans. Humans are an aggressive species
anyway, but increased pollution exacerbates that.

CHARGING FOR
REIKI
My question is does charging a fee for longer Reiki sessions by appt. in some
way diminish the compassion and service aspect of being a divine conduit for
spirit and the resonance of healthy chi or prana? Sensei Usui gave all Reiki
freely until he witnessed beggars that continued begging even after being healed
because they lacked commitment to work and community contribution. He stated
that to charge a fee reminded people of the value of Reiki. I assume that Christ
didn't charge for healing yet I am thinking that he did accept lodging, food,
etc as he traveled. He also emphasized the role of the person's desire to be
healed as imperative to the healing process. (I am employed in another
profession and am also interested in providing Reiki treatments by appt. in
addition).
MICHAEL: Just as
any in good legend, there have sprung up some discrepancies in the Mikao Usui
story between legend and reality. In reality, this man was poor and hoped to
establish a money-making practice for himself using this method of hands-on
healing (which by the way has been circulating the globe in many guises for
centuries). His practice was unsuccessful, so he chose to instead make a name
for himself by performing tricks of healing for people on the streets, many for
little or no pay Word spread and a legend was born.
How can accepting money (energy) for a service performed (energy again) be
anything but of divine service, if that is the intent? Would you not be
performing some sort of exchange even if you collected no fee for the service?
Which form of energy you choose to exchange is up to you, but it is still and
always simply an exchange of energy.

CHOICE
Q:
Talk about the integrity or lack of integrity in personal
choices, including any ramifications.
A: Personal choice is an instrument of
learning that's used to test
the expression of yourself. From the stand point of growth,
individual choice can never be wrong since it powerfully reasserts
the pronouncement of your divinity and validates your existence in
the world. Choices are neither good nor bad, but when they
compromise the integrity of your higher purpose and negatively
impact the choices of others, they will have ramifications. And from
your perspective, the outcomes may not always be pleasant ones.
Any choice, either positive or negative, is reflected back to you in
all of its resplendent glory. Since the Universe reflects any image
you send to it, this can be a challenging lesson for some of you.
When your personal mirror becomes tarnished by enough unpleasant
experiences, you quickly learn to make different choices. Choices
that hurt other people are the Universal equivalent of the child who
learns not to touch a hot stove. Since the energy you expel is
always returned to you in the same way you expressed it, there is much to be
learned from burning your fingers.
Q: How does our role
affect choices?
A: The
Server makes choices that
benefit those around them (or at
least what they subjectively feel to be the most beneficial). In the
negative pole they may limit the choices of others in order to serve
them. This stems from the misguided belief that controlling people
is the only way to be their caretaker.
The Priest makes
choices that, of course, inspire others to seek
greater aspirations and create a reflection from the Universe that's
radiant and pure. In the negative pole, however, the choices of
others may be dissuaded or circumvented until they match the
personal vision of the Priest.
Artisans makes choices
that add subtle hues to the canvas of life.
Each choice is a soft brush stroke that adds layers of insight and
creativity to a work that will always be in progress. Artisans in
the negative pole will try to blur this canvas, as if they took a
finger and smeared the wet paint until the image was unrecognizable.
In this case the choices will only serve to obscure and delude.
Sages often make
choices that are highly conspicuous in order to
draw attention to their personal truths, and they will find a way to
communicate something in just about everything they do. In the
negative pole, however, Sages might make choices based on how it
affects others, in both positive and negative ways. There is little
discrimination here; just a selfish desire to dramatize their
choices in front of a captive audience, pun fully intended.
Warriors make choices
that break new ground and punch through
obstacles. They love anything that presents a challenge, and
personal choices will often be weighed on their ability to maximize
the benefit of a chosen ideal. In the negative pole, choices made by
the Warrior can be swift and brutal, with little regard for the
frail soul that crosses their path.
Kings make choices
that can affect the greatest number of people.
For this reason there are fewer Kings in number than any other role.
Kings usually make choices that encompass the greater good of all.
In the negative pole, however, one errant choice by a King can
destroy entire nations and create wide-scale damage. Repercussions
from such an event will be felt for centuries to come.
Scholars
makes choices that strengthen their ability to broaden their
understanding of the truth. These choices are often experiential,
however, leading to a slippery slope that does not always fare well
if too many risks are involved. Scholars are willing to take more
chances than most roles, and to borrow an old cliche from TV,
will "boldly go where no man has gone before." In the negative
pole, Scholars can make choices that distance others. There can be a
self-centered drive to obtain knowledge at all cost, even though
their quest may be more theoretical than factual.
CHANNELING BY: Dave Gregg
The physical plane is just a part of creation,
nothing more or less. Your sojourn here is a part of your journey through a
cycle of lives. We repeat ourselves, but there are experiences that you can only
have in a body on the physical plane. Indeed, there are so many experiences in
this category that some of you will have hundreds of lives just to sample many
of them. Therefore, it makes no sense for a fragment to say that he/she cannot
endure another life on the earth, or that he/she actually belongs to another
universe. Each one of you is here, on this planet, at this time, by choice. Your
parents were a choice, your culture is a choice, your body is also a choice.
Taken all together, these are the underpinnings of the lifetime you are living.
How, then, can you alter what you may find less appealing about your choices? In
many ways. You continue to choose with every breath you take. Each day, each
hour, you choose the next word, act, thought. We remember how hard some days
were, and we remember how joyful were other days. Memory is your comforter here.
Nothing, not one word, thought, deed lasts forever on the physical plane. All is
choice, yes, but all is part of change. You are the choosers of what you wish to
change.
You often weigh your choices on a scale of what seems most attractive. And this
is undoubtedly a Good Work. But remember, the physical plane has another purpose
for you, and that is to be a place of learning. That means those choices that
end up being less than perfect are still 'perfect' choices. All are valid. All
are part of your lives.

CHRISTMAS
The holiday season can be a time
of stress for many, but it also is a time when people are more willing to open
their hearts. Take advantage of this windfall. If the motivations are pure, an
open heart can mend decades of old wounds in a matter of days . Reach out to
those caught-up in the euphoria of the season and dismantle those barriers that
have kept you apart.
You can also use this openness as
a model to guide your own emotional well-being throughout the rest of the year.
The benefits, of course, are limitless: an open heart is able to receive without
judgment; an open heart does not feel the need to protect the ego or false
personality; an open heart is a measure of your ability to receive the love of
those close to you as well as those kept at a distance; an open heart is your
deed to a life containing more joy and fulfillment, and we could easily continue
here with even more examples.
A closed heart, on the other hand,
leaves you at the mercy of false personality and the distorted fears that
accompany that. Anger and frustration is the inevitable result, and after awhile
it can feel like you're on a sinking ship without a life raft. Striving towards
the more positive feeling is often enough to keep you on track.
For those of you still feeling
challenged by a year of innumerable frustrations, we offer the following:
The symbols of Christmas are, of
course, rich with traditions from many cultures, but the symbol we'd like to
address today is a custom that, while it often leads to a surfeit of
commercialism, has graced the lives of everyone who ever shared their love with
another-- and that is the exchange of gifts.
When you wrap a gift for another
you are not only concealing the surprise from them, but encoding the gift with a
symbol of your affection. On this day when you are often giving to others, we
ask that you share some of that affection with yourself.
Secure a quiet location and
meditate for a moment. When you're free of distractions, review the progression
of your life over the past year. Pay careful attention to any obstacles or
problems that either challenged or upset you.
Now imagine that these challenges
must be placed in a box and wrapped with the same level of affection you'd give
if the present were intended for a loved one. When you're finished wrapping,
place the gifts under an imaginary tree for yourself. Go forward in time a
little and imagine waking up Christmas morning. As you unwrap each package, give
thanks for the gift and appreciate what it has taught you about yourself. Do not
take this step lightly. It is only after you have acknowledged the gift -- and
the things it has illuminated in your life -- that you will be able to release
its negative charge and let it go.
By the time you finish this
exercise you should feel less embittered by the frustrations and setbacks of the
past year, and more empowered by all that life brings. We are not saying that
bad things won't happen in your life, but you can choose how to perceive them.
While it's true that choice may seem limited at times, you still have the power
to choose how you feel, and this is where choice can truly be empowering.
Christmas then teaches that in
each day a new gift is waiting to be unwrapped. If you can learn to accept that
gift with dignity and grace, you will better appreciate what life continues to
teach you -- for life is indeed the most precious gift you will ever receive.

COMMUNITY
Q: Would Michael please comment on
what students could be more aware of at this time, of this year?
MICHAEL: we see that a more intense intention toward
creating and maintaining connection with others, community, is mostly what is
needed for this time. In a time of incredible disparity among peoples, it is
well to remember that you are all one after all. You are all spiritual beings on
this path, and there is no one person or group of people that is better than
another. Soul age, role, nothing is any "better" or "worse" than another. This
time of year traditionally brings introspection to humans. There is little to be
done in the outdoors, and therefore the light is rekindled within. Balancing
this is the opposite hemisphere wherein just the opposite function is being
performed. There, the outbreath that is mid-summer is coming to full fruition.
Light and dark, hot and cold, inward and outward. In all, there is balance.
Remain, then, aware of your connection, not only to those you have awareness of,
but also those nameless faceless "others" elsewhere in the world, in places you
know little about. You are all one, you are all ONE. Feel this inward time,
then, as the other half of the outward also taking place here. Feel yourself
being a part of a living, breathing, organism known to you as Earth.
CHANNELING BY: Karen Murphy
Q: Please talk about your views
regarding creating a Michael community, as well as how the community can apply
the teachings more effectively.
A: The teachings as a whole are not
dependent upon the formation of a community. We are interested in reaching those
we have agreements to reach, but there is no timetable and no urgency. We offer
the teachings as a tool, not as a way of life. But being with others is always a
chance to enrich the quality of your lives, and opportunities abound to test out
the principles being learned in the teachings.
We sense the channel dislikes the cliques that often develop in communities, but
we do not see the harm in any endeavor that fosters more personal growth and
positive interaction. We will add, however, that cliques are often attempts to
avoid growth and they largely arise when the differences of others are looked
upon with fear. Rather than succumbing to this easy way out through avoidance,
we encourage more of you to face those you have difficulties with head-on. The
teachings are most effective when you are confronted by those that challenge
you. If you find yourself in a constant state of flight, forever avoiding
fragments who are not your vibrational match, you are missing many useful
opportunities to apply the teachings.
In simpler terms, the teachings help you learn to connect with the unconnectable.
When you can do that with both compassion and tolerance you are truly doing good
work.
Q: Do students need a community for the purposes of understanding
the teachings?
A: Community is, of course, a necessary
and valuable part of your experience on the physical plane. Many practical
reasons exist for living in a community -- too many to list here -- and the
variety of relationships forged in these interactions are vital to your
continued development. The formation of a Michael community, per se, is
certainly not counter-productive to our intentions, and the mutual exchange of
ideas and camaraderie that develops between students who share your interest can
be quite meaningful. But as we have said before, the effectiveness of the
teachings does not depend upon the formation of a student community. Greater
learning experiences are actually achieved when you apply the teachings to
fragments in your own local circle. Since you often share pre-incarnational
agreements and karma with these fragments, they will likely challenge your grasp
of the teachings in situations that test the limits of what you have learned.
With that said, we do not wish to
discourage any students who actively nurture communities based on the
teachings.
Q: What is community as defined by Michael and Michael students?
We define community as the cooperative
coalescence between people of diverse persuasions who agree to co-exist in a
mutually beneficial way.
Many types of communities exist -- more than can be named at this
time -- but the real bonding agent that holds them together is the magnetic draw
of tolerance and acceptance. Obviously there are practical factors in
communities, such as the exchange of goods and services, religious worship,
municipal governance, and so forth, but the lessons surrounding tolerance and
acceptance provide the glue that creates a lasting bond. Now such lessons are
often pursued unconsciously, but they are still an overriding influence in any
community.
Too many variables exist to define a community by the individual
desires of Michael students, but the nine needs:
Security,
Adventure,
Freedom,
Expansion,
Power,
Expression,
Acceptance,
Communion, and
Exchange could certainly
be used as a guideline in this endeavor.
If we were to draw up a blueprint of a future
Michael community, we would make sure that the nine needs are properly
emphasized.
Q: Tell us more about how students
can apply the teachings in the community.
A: As previously mentioned, students
will find the teachings more instrumental if they can learn to conquer
avoidance. More specifically, the fearful avoidance of others, self, and life in
all of its complexities. When you avoid anything out of fear or judgement, you
are actually creating a void in yourself that lessens your opportunities for
growth. Applying the teachings here will not only help you see the rest of
humanity without a jaundiced eye, but a world once devoid of color will suddenly
shimmer with a radiance never seen before. There is nothing more striking than
the truth.
It is by no accident, by the way, that personalities have clashed in the Michael
community. There is no better way to learn about the teachings than to
experience them firsthand. This doesn't mean you need to be around other
students in order to learn. Your friends, family, and coworkers are your
greatest teachers in this sense. We have been amused by students who
passionately wish to understand the teachings yet seem passionately unwilling to
apply them to each other. Many of the conflicts we've sensed could easily be
remedied if these difficulties were examined through the lens the teachings
provides.
Greater levels of compassion and tolerance are within the grasp of all of you.
When you learn to apply the teachings to those you perceive to be difficult, the
answers will be there. It also might surprise you to know that fragments who
upset you are often reflecting an image of yourself that you have yet to heal.
This does not mean you should condone behavior that forcefully affects the
choices of others, such as violence. But your knowledge of the teachings has
given you a key to unlock the mysteries of the human psyche in profound and life
changing ways. When you avoid or exclude others, however, either out of fear or
judgement, you are really excluding a part of yourself. For this reason we
encourage our students to open more doors than they close.

CONNECTING
Tonight
we come to you, as we always do, with our energy and our understanding. These
are qualities for us, not feelings. We do not have feelings, as we have said
before. But we enclose what you call feelings within our understanding and
offer it back to you as we connect with you all here.
We have a sense that connecting is at the top of the list for discussion
tonight. Every creature is connected in some way to something. We do not say to
everything, although that is not far from the truth. It is however, a concept
that is difficult of expressing. Therefore let us consider being connected in a
more simple, more personal way.
Each of you is here because you are connected with each other and with us. This
connection forms the energy that we can see, although we know you cannot. If we
were to describe it to you it would look like a small vibrating line of light
that encircles all of you beginning with us and ending with us. Other times you
connect, there is a similar line or cord of light between you and the person or
thing you are connecting with. Can you imagine connecting with a thing in the
same way that you do a person? Indeed, although the 'connection' is not of the
same energy, it is an energy and has some of the same attributes that person to
person energy contains.
Why should it matter whether you connect? Because this energy that flows
between the sender and the receiver is nourished by both. We remind you that
solitude is a choice, that social interaction is a choice, that even though you
are sitting in front of a screen looking at words, that you are choosing to be a
part of this energy. Many of you feel the alone-ness of solitude and welcome
it. Others think they have had it forced on them and wish there could be an end
to it.
Something like a scrying glass, you will experience what you expect. We
recognize the differences among you and we are able to send and receive as
needed for each of you individually. We suspect that you may wish you had this
talent! And so you will, eventually. But for the time being, as part of the
physical plane, you will each one experience alone-ness or one-ness as your need
is expressed. That is a Good Work and will become a support for you, each one of
you, as you need it.

CONSCIOUS CREATION
Q. Do you have any thoughts on the
seeming contradiction between Jesus having said "Ask and ye shall receive."
(which I have trouble imagining the Church as later having added) and the
metaphysical 'quip' that anything you ask God for you won't receive, because in
asking you are affirming that you don't already possess it, and you will
therefore perpetuate your current reality in asking? (This was also stated by
God as I recall in the very beginning of Conversations with God Vol I.)
MICHAEL: The
latter might be true if someone is charged about his perception that he doesn’t
have the things he wants. However, if he asks in a neutral way, and is truly
open to receive, he sets in motion the creation he desires. Asking here does not
refer to a casual request, but to a focusing of one’s creative intent.
Conscious
Creation and Seth
Q: In the many books by Jane Roberts, the
spiritual entity Seth said there is only one rule of physical existence, and
that is we create our individual realities through our thoughts, attitudes, and
beliefs. Events in our lives are physical reflections of what we think and feel.
In other words, we cause events to happen, both good and bad, based on what we
expect to see in our world and our lives.
Michael, what are your thoughts on this concept? Do you feel there are notable
exceptions to the rule, and could you explain why so few people seem to be
acknowledged masters of conscious creation? In other words, is there a component
to the system that many are missing?
MICHAEL: We
all co-create reality. It is good work to recognize oneself as the primary
creator of one's reality, but others are also creating reality, and obviously,
there is overlap. The choices of others do affect one. The more mastery one has
of physical plane life, which comes both with increasing soul age and with
personality development within a lifetime, the more one can avoid becoming mixed
up in the reality creations of others that one does not wish to take part in.
But "no man is an island," and it is not possible or even desirable to create
one¹s reality entirely independently of others.
Q. Here's a comparison between common
metaphysical beliefs and those of Seth. Please share your views on the
following:
Many metaphysical thinkers believe create our own reality sometimes, while Seth
said "We create our reality, WITHOUT EXCEPTION."
MICHAEL: It
might be best said that each person creates his or her experience of reality,
regardless of the outer form of things.
Q. Many metaphysical thinkers believe
that we incarnate into the physical plane to become more spiritual, while Seth
said we are already spiritual beings incarnating for deeper reasons.
MICHAEL: It
depends on your definition of "spiritual." It is, of course, true that the soul
is a spiritual entity, so yes, we are all already spiritual beings. But one does
incarnate for the purpose of spiritual growth and development, to expand the
Tao's experience. The physical plane is a potent, challenging school and
playground.
Q. Many metaphysical thinkers believe
that the universe will teach us lessons (often through the school of hard
knocks) while Seth contested that lessons experienced were manifested for our
own personal reasons.
MICHAEL: First,
let us say that learning through the school of hard knocks (growing through
pain) is usually the result of blundering around without much conscious
awareness. The more conscious a person is, the more s/he can grow through joy.
In either case, there will be lessons if there are gaps in development. If one
is already well developed in a certain area, s/he will sail through an
experience that might be difficult for someone lacking in that development. The
experience of living tests the soul for weak areas, and thereby gives it the
opportunity to fill in the gaps.
It is true that the specific reasons for a lesson vary from person to person.
Q. Many metaphysical thinkers believe
that we can be impacted (or physically harmed) by the thoughts or actions of
others, while Seth maintains we are not impacted by others unless we allow it.
MICHAEL: If a
person were so strong and fully developed as to be invulnerable to anything that
someone else might do to him, he probably would not see much need to incarnate
any longer. Great souls such as Jesus and Buddha before their Infinite Soul
incarnations came close to this ideal, but they could still be taken by surprise
and be harmed. At that level of development,
though, there is the ability to rebound quickly and grow from the experience
without much ado.
You "allow" yourself to be harmed by others because of your lack of development.
It is not so easy to blithely decide to be unaffected by others and make it
stick; there is the need to grow in the gaps to make that possible.
Q. It has been taught that time happens
simultaneously. Thus, linear time is an illusionary perception of our physical
realities, and does not exist as a universal construct. Since this would mean
that in a reincarnational cycle all lives are lived simultaneously, wouldn't
this indicate that concepts of
karma or the spiritual evolution of the soul are meaningless?
MICHAEL:
Progressive experience can occur outside of the rigid strictures of time.
Evolution, by definition, occurs in a progression. How that aligns with the
particular space/time continuum of a particular planet is somewhat negotiable.
Within the framework of time, events are not simultaneous; only when you move
outside that framework is that the case.
Time is no more an "illusion" than space; both are valid, but only within their
own spheres. On the astral plane, for instance, physical plane space and time
are much more fluid and malleable, and on the causal plane, they are almost
nonexistent.

CREATING A
NEUTRAL SPACE (for challenging people)
Similar to the way the Earth's atmosphere protects all life
on your planet from harmful radiation, when you create a neutral space, you are
protecting yourself from the toxic energy of others. The idea is to develop the
confidence that toxic energy directed your way will harmlessly bounce off your
protective shield. This is not so much a force field that you are erecting, but
a state of mind. It's a way to subvert the negative offerings of challenging
personalities, and learn that, with the exception of karma, if you allow any
individual to disempower the vitality of your spirit, it is a choice.
There is great power in learning how to control your
reactions in negative situations. To create a neutral space, all that is
required then, is a willingness to trust that you have the inner strength to do
so. Although your centering can certainly add its own set of challenges to this
objective, choosing to react to antagonism in a negative manner is still a
choice.
Being in a neutral space is not dissimilar to sitting in a
seat at a theater. On the stage there may be a cast of characters all vying for
your attention, hoping to lure you into the dramatic arc of their story, and
indeed, you may choose to become emotionally invested in the tenor of each
scene. But you are also able to detach from the events on the stage at any time.
Why? Because the events happening on the stage are an illusion; they are not
real.
Your life, of course, is not make believe, but if you teach
yourself to observe that the people around you are just actors on stage trying
to play the roles they have been assigned in their script, it will become easier
for you to detach from the inappropriate behavior of others, and possibly see
your world from a perspective that's less annoyed by the melodrama in life.
We are not implying that you should go through life utterly
devoid of feeling, but once again, like the choice you have to get involved in
the drama of a theatrical performance, you can also choose the level of
involvement you wish to give to the behavior of a challenging personality.
Remember that these fragments are reading from a different script than your own.
And since you are the director of your own life, you have the final say if you
want to act in their play or choose to audition for another.

CROP CIRCLES
Q: In England we have the strange
phenomenon known as crop circles, which are the most beautiful patterns which
appear overnight in wheat and other growing crops. They happen in lots of parts
of the world but particularly in SW England. The designs have become more
complex and more subtle over the last ten years. Do you have any information
about them, what causes them, or what their purpose is?
MICHAEL: The
ones that are genuine - and we would say that over two-thirds are - are
primarily designed to plant seeds in human consciousness that there are indeed
other more advanced civilizations. The crop circles are designed to condition
humanity to this understanding and to lessen the fear, preparing the way for
contact directly. The crop circles come from benevolent sources. Most of them
come from the same three races that are working together on this - we mean three
different planets, societies - and each design is a communication; it is a
thought form, it is like a mandala. It transmits understanding without relying
upon words. You might say it contains a mathematical or geometric truth.

CURSES
Q. Do such things as evil thoughts and/or
curses really exist, and how do they play a role in the teachings and life?
MICHAEL:
These exist. One can repel them by wishing all people well. Curses generally
find their mark by resonating with like thoughts in the victim.
Skilled healers can identify and remove negative thought forms.
Curses are a fact of life on the physical plane. People continually curse
each other with greater or lesser intricacy and power. Ultimately, dealing
with them teaches love.

DEPRESSION
(Severe)
Q. Can you speak a little about severe
depression, in which a person can only think about not wanting to be on this

situation?
MICHAEL: There
is usually a biochemical problem that can be corrected through diet, herbs,
exercise, and perhaps pharmaceuticals.
When the going gets tough, most people will suffer from a certain amount of
depression after a while, but when it is long-term and external
circumstances aren't, objectively speaking, all that stressful, it is likely
that the delicate balance of the endocrine system has been disrupted.
Sometimes severe depression accompanies repaying a heavy karmic debt. It can
also result from taking on heavy energies from other people.

Europe is experiencing demographic decline with very low birthrates. Why are so

MICHAEL: The trend you are seeing

While such trends are interesting to note, they are often misconstrued within
the context of the larger trends, which tend to be those which have fewer
disparities and large swings from one pole to another.

EVIL SPIRITS
<PQ> Could you discuss the existence
of malicious discarnates - their activity among us, and their intentions, as
well as their origins?
<DaveGregg> Malicious discarnates, as you call them, often exist in two forms.
The first are fragments blinded by excessive Maya during an incarnation. Upon
death these discarnates literally become shackled to the physical in a
delusional prison of their own making. With the assistance of guides they
eventually escape this self-inflicted miasma that clouds their thinking, but it
can take some time depending on the severity of their delusion. Anger and a
sense of desperation may add to the confusion and terror they feel, and many of
your biblical depictions of Hell have originated from this condition.
These discarnates are not malicious in the true definition of the word, but in
their rage they may occasionally lash out at those still living that appear
indifferent to their struggles. In a similar sense, discarnates who have become
earthbound due to physical plane addictions can also be the cause of
considerable mischief.
Our second example consists of an improper use of astral matter. These
emanations are not sentient beings -- or what we'd even consider a consciousness
-- but negatively charged thought-forms that exist in ephemeral states, feeding
off the fear of others like starving animals. Negative projections like this are
created from the malleable matter in the lower astral plane, and may either
reside there or intrude into the physical space of others. Physical intrusions,
however, are usually generated by a living person or persons. Some group
incantations of so-called demons have been created in this way.

EVOLUTION (Theory
of)
Q. How accurate is the theory
of evolution as man has defined it. Is it in keeping with the reality of species
development on earth? How does the idea of 'intelligent design' fit in?
MICHAEL: Let us look at the last question first. All creation is intelligent.
There is no grain of cosmic dust nor of the minutest cell that is not
intelligent. Therefore the design is by its nature intelligent. Now, is there a
divine being who has drawn up the blueprints for all of this creation? Not in
the way that your scriptures tend to picture it. All of what you call creation
comes from one source, the Tao. But the Tao does not create. The Tao allows
energy to 'escape', to be cast from IT in its quest for the experience of
parting with it. It is this energy that ultimately 'creates', that sets the
intelligent patterns for matter to follow. If you wish to call this 'intelligent
design', you may do so. Now as for the theory of evolution as understood and
taught by your scientists, this is as near to the truth of things as most
fragments' minds can encompass. The species that evolved on this planet to the
point that it could be ensouled had to have certain physical qualifications:
among them was the opposable thumb and a palate and larynx for speech. You may
not think that the opposable thumb is primary to your humanity, but we suggest
that you try to do the most ordinary gesture without being able to bring your
four fingers together with your thumb. Upright gait was also part of the
requirement for ensoulment. So in a manner of speaking, there is no argument
between the Darwinists and our teachings. It is just that the theory of Darwin
was not informed by the considerations that you and we understand. Ensoulment
was accomplished some 60,000 years ago. The area that cannot be ascertained by
science is the assistance that the evolving species had from the universe. When
you have heard that your planet was 'seeded' by star peoples you imagine that
humanity as it exists today was brought fully formed from a distant planet and
introduced here among the animals that already inhabited it. But this is a
misunderstanding of the 'seeding' process. It is much more usual that a
promising form be identified and then 'helped along' in its evolution, a process
that takes generations, by the way. The physical apparatus must exist in at
least incipient form. You cannot make omelets without breaking eggs. If the
species that became human had not had the potential for speech, for instance, a
different vehicle would have had to be found.

EXPECTATIONS & HOPE
(The Difference)
Q: Michael has touched before on the
difference between having expectations and having hope. Would they please
comment further on these two elements, and how we can appropriately apply them
to our lives?
MICHAEL: Expectations are demands. Demands are an attempt to limit choice. This
not only diminishes the other person; it diminishes the one demanding, too. It
creates a constricted field that says that "Only if life goes in the direction I
think it should will there be okayness in the universe."
Hope, on the other hand, is an expression of intention. You desire an outcome.
You are not requiring it but you are magnetizing it, opening yourself to it,
watching for it. Hope is most useful when it is based on a certain amount of
realism. To hope, for example, that a movie star you don't know will fall in
love with you is a waste of energy. However, to hope that someone you know will
fall in love with you may be quite useful when it is not yet clear what the
other person's feelings are. The positive hope communicates to the other person,
whereas being totally neutral does not--it might be read as indifference and
doesn't magnetize the result you wish.
Once the other person makes a choice to either move toward you or away from you,
hope is no longer useful in this context; then you are either pursuing a
relationship or seeing that it is not going to happen, in which case you are
best off letting go of the hope. Holding onto hope once the facts have been
established causes heartache. On the other hand, there are instances in which
hope may not seem justified but it is-- you can sense that the facts have not
actually been established, even though the situation looks hopeless.

FEAR
Q. What is fear composed of? What is it's

MICHAEL: Fear
creates a vacuum as one withdraws from what is feared. Anger consumes its
object. Both are the result of a lack of equilibrium.
We wouldn't say that fear is composed of something so much as it is the
result of a lack of the presence of self.
Biological fear is part of the necessary survival instinct. Emotional fear
generally arises from a misinterpretation of that. Intellectual fear is more
complex--it is part of false personality's defenses. Spiritual fear is from
the knowledge that in facing self, one must change, and that thrusts one
into the unknown. That can trigger biological fear, which is designed to
avoid possible dangers lurking in the physical unknown.

FORGIVENESS
Forgiveness is a
relatively simple act, with little or no preparation required, yet it remains
one of the most daunting lessons our students face. Indeed, if every fragment on your planet performed just one act of
forgiveness a day, the entire world would benefit. But the evolutionary process of your civilization follows a
natural course, and fragments will awaken when they are ready to do so.
Learning to forgive is
vital to your spiritual health for several reasons:
-
Forgiveness releases you from the ball
and chain that tethers to all the wrong you have suffered from. Violations to
your being, either karmic or mere annoyance, continue to inflict pain and
damage till you forgive the fragment in question and release the negative
charge or imbalance initially created. As long as you nurture feelings of
anger and resentment, you relive the injurious act and continue to fall victim
to it.
-
Forgiveness does not
mean you condone the act. You simply release your negative attachment to it
and stop any further victimization by its memory. You also release the
perpetrator of the energetic bond created at the time. We wouldn't necessarily
call forgiveness a divorce, per se, but there are elements of the unhealthy
marriage between two fragments in need of forgiveness.
-
Each act of
forgiveness is another step to Agape. Forgiveness blooms like a flower in your
soul and the sheer number of blossoms are directly proportional to the acts of
forgiveness performed. Similar to the honeybee as it pollinates neighboring
flowers, one act of forgiveness can literally pollinate hundreds of flowers.
-
Another
interesting aspect of forgiveness is the healing element. When
someone violates your trust, for instance, you feel like you have an emotional
flu; forgiveness then serves as the antidote. In this case forgiveness works
like a natural antibiotic against the contagion.
-
Finally, forgiveness teaches you how to
love those around you who act unlovable. It breaks down barriers erected
around insecurities, prejudices, and fears, and exposes you to the truth that
love is the Universal constant. We have said before that adversaries are your
greatest teachers, and much can be learned by forgiving them.
To use a
business analogy, forgiveness is like a contract you write that releases you of
any negative bonds you have with either yourself or another person. This
contract is your intention to let go of fear and replace it with love.
Over a
lifetime you will collect a substantial inventory of unresolved fears and you
could say your soul becomes a warehouse for these goods. The shelves, so to
speak, may indeed be stacked high with boxes and dust curls, but there is no
expiration date on the fears you have boxed away. And reviving the potency of
what lies in a box is as simple as opening the lid. Forgiveness, then, is your
way of liquidating your inventory and redistributing it in a more positive
manner.
As yet
another instrument in your arsenal of spiritual tools, forgiveness simply helps
you release negative energy. Anytime you harbor this kind of energy you limit
the fullness of your potential. Forgiveness is your means for clearing the
pent-up energies of resentment, frustration, anger, annoyance, betrayal, hate,
and a host of other spiritual maladies that act like parasites and prevent you
from finding more joy in your life.
Many tools
are available to teach you about forgiveness, but we've tried to distill some
of the concepts into a single exercise.
First,
realize that forgiveness is not an effective tool if you don't sincerely believe
in it.
In your society, such glib attempts at forgiveness are no better than a band-aid
if sincerity and determination are not part of the RX mix.
In this
exercise, then, instead of focusing on a specific individual, look for something
within yourself to forgive. It should come as little surprise to you that no
greater test of sincerity exists than when you focus the healing lens on your
own life.
Starting
at the age of six (if you can remember that far), begin retrieving memories from
your past, scanning carefully for events that still carry an emotional charge.
Look in particular for any incident where you felt shame and regret. Allow
yourself to re-experience those feelings if you can, and similar to our previous
exercise where you faced your pain, once again let the emotions surge through
your body.
Now ponder
the ramifications of your action and acknowledge how it might have affected
other people. Don't judge yourself here, just understand the role you played in
the incident. When the intensity of your emotions have reached a climax -- not
dissimilar to the potency of sexual release -- forgive yourself. Use whatever
affirmation suits the situation, but vow with as much intensity as you can
generate that you are releasing the fear from this memory and forgiving
yourself for the harm you inflicted on others, including the mistakes that you
made. Acknowledge the validity of the experience for what it taught you, but
make a pact with yourself that once you have released this fear you are finished with
it for good. Now allow the energy to dissipate and let go of the past.
Continue
this exercise for the next couple of days (or however long it takes) and find
more personal experiences in your life that might benefit from your forgiveness.
Especially uncover any memories that still haunt you today and give them special
attention. Like neglected, homeless children, these are areas from your past that still cry
out for your love.
After you
have developed a sufficient amount of proficiency with this exercise, you are
then ready to choose someone other than yourself to forgive.
Forgiveness is the only way we know to reach true inner peace. Like everything
else, though, it is ultimately a choice if you choose to release your fears from
the past and replace them with love.

GOLDEN AGE IN
EUROPE
Q. The archaeologist and anthropologist
Marija Gimbutas ('The language of the goddess' etc.) writes convincingly about a
Golden Age in Old Europe when the members of a liberal, matriarchal society
apparently lived in peace and harmony with each other, in the total absence of
warfare or competitive struggle and with great respect and love for Mother
Earth. The Goddess culture these people created is supposed to have lasted from
about 30,000 years ago to about 7,000 years ago, when it was destroyed by what
she calls Kyrgan invaders (from Siberia), who rode horses and had metal weapons;
after which a solar, patriarchal culture gradually absorbed the goddess myths
into a baby soul-type society, established the first temples etc, and the rest,
as they say, is history. Did this golden age really exist and, if so, how did
that society manifest in terms of soul ages? That would seem to have been an old
soul society, but if so it would seem to have been from a previous set of cycles
from our current one - and even then how could it last for 20,000+ years?
MICHAEL: As is
usually the case with history, this is oversimplified. There were pockets of
Europe with peaceful, more matriarchal tribes, and also some more patriarchal
tribes, some of which were also peaceful. The demise of this status quo came
more from a significant increase in population than from a particular invasion.
With growing population came growing frictions, which brought forth more
aggression and tilted the tribes more toward patriarchy.
The years suggested are roughly correct.
One cannot generalize too much about the average soul age of this period; there
was a mix, and societies cycled through all the ages. Even young soul societies
can be relatively peaceful if the circumstances are right, such as a low
population, in which case the young energies may be focused on building rather
than competing.

of the reason is that financing has become more readily obtainable by those who

GROWTH
<Daniel> The Michaels said that they don't measure growth in
a linear way. How do they measure growth?
<DaveGregg>
Growth is measured by the weight of the lesson learned. For some fragments,
a trivial experience can amount in phenomenal growth, while for others, a
lifetime may be spent trying to move beyond a certain point, and still the
lesson may not be learned.
It is not the length of the experience or even
the intensity that matters, but the impact it has in getting the fragment to
evolve. This can occur in a fraction of a second, or require several
lifetimes of work before it is finally accomplished.

HOMOPHOBIA
Q: What is
the real reason for homophobia?
A: Let us first examine the cause
behind any fear we have of things we don't understand. Fear in itself is the
manifestation of a lack of love, and love is the key ingredient in understanding
the differences we have with others. Since homophobia is essentially a fear of
an unknown, a lifestyle that is foreign to another can lead to the passing of
judgements, or in this case, a fear of expressing affection towards someone of
the same sex. For many this is still a societal taboo (although in some ancient
cultures the lifestyle was widely accepted). Today the restrictions are starting
to loosen but the old fears remain firmly fixed in those who cling to belief
systems that inflate their self worth through the castigation of others.

HUMOR
Q: Is
there anything that could be presumed as humor on the plane where the Michaels
are right now? I assume that humor is a universal thing, but I would like to get
some picture of how it manifests on higher planes or what humor means for
Michael, for example.
MICHAEL: We are amused by this question. Of course
there is humor among our entity, and though we cannot speak for those planes
above the causal, we can unequivocally state that we experience the pleasure of
humor. Humor is, after all, an intellectual experience. It is not emotional. If
it were, it would not be available to us. But the juxtaposition of incompatible
ideas, which is what true humor is, is certainly part of our experience of the
causal plane.
There is satisfaction in recognizing a play on words, on an unexpected result
from an ordinary action, and on the distortion of events as they unfold.
Bawdiness, btw, is not confined to the physical plane. It does not take a body
to enjoy references to physical manifestations, only the memory of it. It may
sound strange to you, but the fact that we can appreciate the humor in certain
situations is definitely a bonus in our choice of mission. We do not say that it
is necessary, only that it is there.
When we seriously say to you that we do not depend on anyone accepting and using
the teachings we bring, that this is quite apart from our choice to do this, we
speak nothing but truth. Quite beside this important point, however, is the
enjoyment we get from our choice of mission. We would not choose to do other
than we have, and much of that comes from our experience with the joy of
connecting with you. Agape is without expectation, and we do not EXPECT any
return from you. We do, however, receive return in abundance, some of which is
robed in humor.
If we had not once been human as you are, with all the concerns, fears, and
loves that you are now experiencing, we would not make very good teachers. As it
is, we are learning as you go, and we enjoy the work. Joy is part of agape, and
to enjoy something is to find joy in it. That is our goal, and yours, agape.

"IF, THEN" GAMES
Q:
Most people I've talked to played those "If, then" games in their heads as
children. Example: if I get past that street light before that red car passes
me, this or this will happen, or something I wish for comes true. Where does
that come from since it seems to be so common and what is the significance of
this, if there is any? Is it actually practice for something?
A: While there are innumerable explanations for this pastime, in general, these
little distractions are relics, if you will, from astral games played between
lifetimes. The astral can be a wonderful playground to test how thoughts and
emotions shape reality, and while the results are often riotous and unexpected,
there is much enjoyment derived from creating small Universes without fear that
one misstep could lead to a cosmic catastrophe. Back on the physical, however,
there is the illusion that more is at stake. This can instill an unwillingness
in many fragments to take responsibility for what they secretly desire or wish
to create. Thus, "If, then" games are a way to place the burden onto something
other than themselves. If the light turns red before the intersection is
reached, for example, it might be playfully said that a job promotion won't be
obtained. But what fragments are really doing is giving away their power so they
can't blame themselves if something goes wrong. We would not necessary say such
games are a "cop-out" because most fragments eventually take enough
responsibility for their actions to manifest the reality they've envisioned. We
then see these diversions as a way of letting off steam or taking the pressure
off something that will eventually get done in due time.

ILLUMINATI
<Laurie> Please discuss your views on the
vast conspiracy of the Illuminati.
<DaveGregg>
No greater bastion of fear
exists than the conspiracy theory. It thrives in psychological realms ruled by
the chief features and will continue to clutch at the throats of society for
as long as fear is allowed to run rampant.
Conspiracy theories are
like theatrical plays that enthrall their audiences with performances cleverly
crafted to camouflage the truth. They are the modern-day equivalent of
folklore. We are not saying there have never been any conspiracies in your
history, but we wish to remind you that fear, not the truth, is the usual culprit
here.
About the Illuminati, this
was a 17th century mystical order that played a minor role in influencing the
power elite of its day. Much has been made of this brotherhood, but we must
say that the scope of the group's power has been greatly exaggerated, and in
some cases, fictionalized.
We are not aware of a
modern-day Illuminati unless you are referring to segments of the wealthy
that do sway some power in the corporate and political arenas. None of these
power players, however, are involved in conspiracies on any grand scale, and
are mostly just ambitious young souls trying to accumulate massive wealth.

IMPACTING COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS
Those who govern or represent their people cannot go
far beyond where those people are. Too often, they are behind them, but
generally not very far. Of course, a group can contain people of a wide range of
consciousness, but for every entity, be it a nation, a corporation, a school, or
a planet, there is a collective consciousness that is formed by its members.
That consciousness is not necessarily an average or mean, because each member
does not invest the same energy into it. Generally, those who invest the most
into the entity determine its consciousness.
Using the United States as an example, perhaps the majority are apathetic in
relation to its consciousness; therefore, they do not determine its
consciousness as long as there are substantial minorities who are passionately
investing their energies into it. This is not to say that the majority don't
care at all--they do. However, they don't invest a critical mass of energy into
it to imprint it with their values.
Investing in the collective entity does not necessarily manifest in obvious
ways, although it might, and those who seem quite invested may not, in fact, be
having much impact on it. Those investing much into the collective consciousness
of the U.S. may be activists, or they may not be. They may be well-read, or they
may not be. The main determining factor is how their caring is directed.
It is important to know what you don't want when forming a vision of what
you do want, but if it stops there, your caring becomes invested in what you
don't want. If you focus it, instead, on your vision of what you do want--in
this case, how you ideally see the U.S.--you are more likely to have an impact
on its collective consciousness.

INDIGO CHILDREN
Here are three views on Indigo Children:
1) Indigo children are imprinted by the current level
of consciousness of their society at the time they were born--they build on a
higher foundation than that of their parents when society's consciousness has
progressed.
CHANNELED BY: Shepherd Hoodwin
*************************************
2) The label
INDIGO CHILDREN is a convenience that some have used to describe what is
happening to the gene pool of human beings. We have already described that the
genetic structure of the human being is being altered in minute ways to assist
in the more comfortable experience of the coming soul levels. One of the ways
genes are being altered is to prepare you for a longer life. As it stands, your
body will not last for the decades extension we understand is in store for you.
It happened to us, too, by the way. Our natural life span was extended by three
decades with very little of the physical frailty that you now experience as you
age. In order for this to be a part of your physical heritage, the genetic
molecules must be altered. In the process of doing this, there will be
concomitant changes in brain function and in other neurological aspects of the
physical body. It is this brain function and the emotional fall-out from it
that these film makers have apparently fastened on.
It is true, there are children now living whose molecular structure is somewhat
different. It is not yet finished, since this kind of thing must be done in
stages to allow bodies to eventually accommodate to the new pattern over several
incarnations . It will take several generations for the final product to become
standard. [Laughing] In the meantime, one aspect of this alteration that is
more apparent than the inner workings of the nervous system, for instance, is
the result that you were shown in the film. This is a fictionalization of a
true phenomenon; however, the producers have not got it quite right. The unease
that is the most common result in these first generation adapted persons is not
quite as disassociated from the mainstream as was portrayed. But we agree that
there will be some difficulty assimilating large numbers of altered neurons as
packaged in human bodies into the ordinary ways of many people.
You might be interested to know that those who have agreed to be born with new
works, so to speak, have carefully selected their parents. These are not just
off the shelf, run of the mill men and women who happen to come together and
make babies. This has been given a great deal more thought than that. So we
think that you might be on the lookout for what may be thought of as these
special children as you examine the ones who are now about ten years old.

Is the information on Crystal children (old souls who are psychically sensitive
+ telepathic, who also are on their first lifetime on earth) and Rainbow
children (fully awakened crystals who are non-karmic this life) correct as is,
and how does this fit in with the Michael teachings?
<DaveGregg>
This
terminology
is
foreign to our teaching. As we see
it,
these distinctions do serve to awaken society to the uniqueness of each soul,
and from that standpoint positive benefit may be derived. The descriptions you
offer, however,
are
misleading. A new soul fragment, for example, does not begin it's first
lifetime in a cycle as an old soul.
We agree that
more old
souls are now incarnating, but the recent media coverage that labels certain
children as crystal, rainbow, and indigos, does not represent fragments any
more gifted or unique than the other souls currently incarnating.
It
is
true that many of these fragments
are
indeed older souls, but this
simply
denotes a different perspective on life, not an entitlement.

INCOMPLETE INTERNAL MONADS
MICHAEL: People typically have at least a
few leftover threads from their internal monads, even if they basically
completed them in the positive poles, so going back and revisiting them is not
uncommon. When the monad was left incomplete or finished in the negative pole,
it means that the personality made a choice to "bail ship," to turn away from
the issues and give up. It generally takes a major life shake-up to motivate a
person to go back and restart the work of a monad. If there is motivation, it
can usually be done simply by facing the issues head-on.
Q. Also, what are the primary lessons of
the 3rd and 4th monads that most students tend to miss?
MICHAEL: For the third internal monad,
the biggest missed lesson is unconditional love and acceptance of their parents,
warts and all. For the fourth, it is having gratitude for the discarded
imprinting.

INFANT SOULS
<Diane> I'm curious about "family life" on earth when infant
souls were the only ones here. How were the families structured, and how did
they interact with one another? How did the dynamics change when baby souls
began to incarnate? Did baby souls choose infant soul parents and then seek to
structure them?
<ShepherdHoodwin> If you start to feel
uncomfortable in any way, remember to connect with nature; that should stabilize
the higher energies.
Infant soul families were, as you might expect, focused on survival. There were
many crises related to childbirth, health in general, and food supplies.
However, you might be surprised at how loving and close-knit these families
often were. Many modern complications had not yet set it. It was rare, for
example, for there to be domestic violence, beyond a swat to a child to teach it
not to do something. Most did not understand paternity, so families were not
"nuclear" in the way that is defined today. Instead, there were small clusters
that joined together as units, typically three adult males and three adult
females, along with all the females' children. If someone wasn't getting along
well in one cluster, s/he might migrate to a nearby one, but generally, these
were stable units. Sexual play was mostly kept within one's cluster, and
same-sex play was not uncommon.
Infant soul societies, especially
in the earlier stages, tend to be peaceful. Cooperation is the norm, because
without it, survival is compromised. There is not a lot of individual identity.
Finding your individual fulfillment would be a foreign concept. If one cluster
had extra food, it freely shared it with others if they needed it. There wasn't
much understanding of food storage, so they would eat more when they had more
and try to gain weight for the lean times.
Moving toward the baby soul level, these clusters started to make alliances with
other clusters. The beginning of the baby soul cycle is marked by the formation
of larger groupings that individuals would identify with. So, loyalty is no
longer primarily to one's cluster but to this larger grouping, with or without a
strong leader. The transition is gradual and slow enough that both parents and
children make it together. However, it does occur that a 1st level baby soul is
born to 7th level infant souls, and the baby soul child is driven by a desire to
organize into larger groupings that the parents respect but don't necessarily
take part in.

INPUTS
Q:
Please elaborate on the five channels of communication.
M: Although there has been some information channeled
already about this subject, we would say that there is more yet to be
“discovered”.
The first channel is the one accessed by Warriors, Kings, and Scholars. This is
the channel of Primary importance, the one of Force. It allows those who access
it, which includes every role in essence, to focus their efforts and operate on
the physical plane without literally imploding. If it were not for this channel,
which allows an energy transfer in two directions, than the energy contained and
manufactured by the fragment would have nowhere to go.
The second channel is that of Power. It allows Priests and Servers to have an
effect on those around them. If it were not for this channel, much like giving a
choice of two television channels to watch, there would be an overload for these
fragments on the channel of Force and again there would be an electrical
malfunction, similar to a short-circuit, of the additional energy manufactured
by these fragments had nowhere to go.
The third channel is that of Laughter. For the Sage, this is paramount. The Sage
is the role that requires feedback in order to function properly. If it were not
for this third channel of communication (which we like to think of as energy
transfer), the Sage would be repressed and begin to unhealthily turn its energy
toward itself.
The fourth and fifth channels are accessed almost solely by the Artisan. That is
not to say that they cannot be accessed by other roles, but it is the Artisan
that lives in them, feeds on their input and exchange, and has a comfort level
with them. The fourth channel is that of Discernment, and the fifth is that of
Creation.

INTUITION
<Fideelia> In our
culture many people believe that women are more intuitive than men -- feminine
intuition, they claim. Does feminine intuition exist? And if so, how would you
describe it? Moreover, what is intuition and how does it differ from female
intuition?
<ShepherdHoodwin> Intuition is
intuition. It is not solely the domain of souls in female bodies. We might
define it as the ability to know more than what the five senses tell you.
Intuition is not merely of the emotional center, but emotions carry a great deal
of information. Someone cut off from emotions is likely to have trouble
receiving intuitive knowledge. However, there are other sources of intuition,
such as through a bodily and/or psychic sense of energy.
The most accurate intuition
involves all levels of perception. Some males are quite intuitive in your
culture, but generally not through their emotions. They often perceive through
"gut feelings." The reason women are thought to be more intuitive in your
culture is that males are enculturated to deny emotions. This is less true today
than in the past, but there is still a cultural imperative for men to be
"strong." What that boils down to is that society says, "Men need to be tough
and protect us all. If that means killing, so be it."
Of course, in the hunter/gatherer
tradition, hunting meant killing animals for food. It also meant killing other
men to protect the tribe. It is possible to kill when necessary and still
maintain open, healthy emotions, but in general, killing is traumatic, and
society has often found it easier to deal with that by teaching males to detach
from all emotions. That leaves them without a main source of intuitive
information, although, as we say, there can be others. This is the main reason
that women are considered to have better intuition. However, there is also a
structural reason. The feminine correlates with the inner world, and the
masculine, the outer.
Since emotions are content and thoughts are
form, males are considered more intellectual and women, more emotional. Of
course, you each know of exceptions to this, but it generally holds. A soul in a
female body will naturally be more attuned to inner realities; in a male body,
the same soul will be more attuned to outer realities.
Among souls, some naturally attune more
to one than the other, but the body's sex will emphasize inner or outer, and
will move the soul's focus to the "left" or the "right." That's the main reason
there are exceptions to the generalities about men and women. Imprinting is
another. All souls evolve toward greater intuition, even if some people's
personalities block it more in some lifetimes. Even those who refuse to
acknowledge any truths beyond the intellectual have intuitions--they just don't
fully engage with them. You, no doubt, have heard many people say that they
wished they'd followed a particular impulse or feeling. At the time, they
dismissed it. You have also no doubt heard of people who were not normally all
that intuitive who trusted an impulse that saved their lives. Oftentimes, the
impulse was one of their spiritual guides "yelling" at them to avoid an accident
or a doomed airplane. Your guides work with you to help you complete your life
tasks.

of greed and Western materialism. We do see, however, that there is use in the

KARMA
Q: Would Michael please explain to us Self
Karma and what is the process for balancing Self Karma.
MICHAEL: Self-Karma is about creating an energy
disparity within the fragment itself. This can be done in many ways, but the
most common is to act out of False Personality in such a way so that the
fragment cannot see truth except shrouded in maya. This can have any number of
effects, not the least of which creates a reality in which the fragment can only
see the effects of its actions, not what the actions are itself. You may see
this as a seeming paradox, but if you should examine its truth you will see that
it is indeed possible.
Self-karma can only be balanced within the context of the individual fragment
itself. We would suggest then that the fragment so imbued with self-karma begin
on a cleansing program in order to rid itself of this imbalance. This takes a
concerted effort and is more easily accomplished between lives when the pain
that manifests from the knowledge that all is truly maya ceases when the
fragment can see truly what is truth. The fragment cleans away the karma and
begins again in another life free of this imbalance. You will note that
“regular” karma travels with the fragment from life to life, but self-karma
generally dies not. Few fragments choose to begin a life imbued with self-karma,
for this action in and of itself would create further self-karma.

LEARNING TO CHANNEL OVERLEAVES
Q. Are there roles better suited than
others to channeling overleaves?
MICHAEL: It is not so much a function of
role as it is the ability to hold fine distinctions in mind.
Q. Does centering make a difference?
MICHAEL: It helps if there is a
sensitivity to language. Scholars and sages tend to have this regardless of
centering. Otherwise, having either an intellectual center or part of center is
helpful, but not required.
Q. Do you have suggestions for the
beginning channel who wishes to start with overleaves?
MICHAEL: Go slowly and carefully; avoid
jumping to conclusions. Put self aside.
Q. Is an extensive conscious knowledge of
the overleaves necessary to channel them?
MICHAEL: It is very helpful. The lack of
clear understanding in the channel can lead to unconscious filtering.
Q. Does it cause confusion if we mix
energies to channel overleaves (two or more fragments at a time trying to bring
in the overleaves together)?
MICHAEL: Not necessarily. It can actually
help if there is singularity of purpose.

LIFE (Holding It Sacred)
We say with a certain
irony that many fragments never realize the true beauty of life until they
reach their final moments. In these fleeting seconds of consciousness, as they
gasp to fill their lungs with one last gulp of air, the poignant realization --
at least in a physical sense -- is that in spite of incessant preoccupations
with work, relationships, family, and a quest for a minutia of details that
swallows up every waking moment, the meaning of life is simply life
itself, and the only expectation for every fragment that inhabits a body, is to
live.
Life, therefore, in its
own definition, is sacred. No greater expression of the Tao exists than in the
limitless pulsation of life that animates the body of every man and creature. To
see life gazing back at you in the eyes of another is to see a reflection of the
same life force that animates your own soul.
Indeed, sometimes you
learn to appreciate the sacredness of life by coming face to face with your own
mortality. For the fragments who know they have reached the end, life can
suddenly surge with a vibrancy never seen before. All of the senses explode with
a new realization of beauty, and there's often a desperate attempt to
capture those sensations in mental photographs before the consciousness snuffs
itself out.
The sad question then
posed by the dying fragment is: why did I wait so long?
We do not mean to imply
you should expedite your demise in order to come to this realization, but for
the sake of this exercise, allow your imagination to take you there with the
following:
Try to imagine you have just received word
from your doctor that you only have one day left to live. Even attempt to feel
the shock and dismay of the doctor's news. Pay particular attention, however, to
your disappointments:
What things will you miss? What regrets do you have? What would you do
differently if you were given a chance to start your life anew?
At first you may find
these questions frivolous, but if approached seriously, your answers could be
quite revealing. The goal is to learn about the things you take for granted
in life, and learn how to make choices that are better aligned with the intentions of
essence.
Some of our students have wondered about this, and have asked if life can
indeed quench the thirst of the soul. But as a cup of water can hydrate the
body and ensure its continued vitality, life is the vessel that replenishes
the soul with the greatest gift the Tao can give: experience.
As we've said many times before, nothing is ever wasted; but nothing is
gained, either, if the greatest gift you ever receive is squandered with
little gratitude towards the giver.
We should clarify, however, that life is not sacred for reasons of religious
exaltation; life is sacred because it is YOURS. And in your life it is a
choice if you choose to be the creator or the destroyer. Although there is
much that can be learned from either choice.

LIFE (Loving it)
Q: Michael has said that by the time we reach 7th old
we will be so happy and involved in being alive in the physical plane
that we love being here - and then we cycle off. How did this notion
develop? What is really meant by "loving it here?" Does that apply
regardless of the life circumstances? I.E., can we distinguish between a
certain love of the beauty of the physical plane and life itself, vs.
the exigencies, difficulties, and generally abrasive experiences some
late old fragments have.
A: You are referring to an oft generalized comment.
When you can love life without the burden of negative
attachments or expectations, you have found the equilibrium and there is nothing
left to do but flow with the current. In other words, loving life means you have
finally accepted it in all of its multifarious guises and costumes; the show is
over, so to speak, and you are no longer the playwright arguing with the
director about the changes he made to your script.
To further illustrate, we do not mean that fragments will become
so enraptured with life that they'll love wasting away with a disease. Instead,
a state of acceptance develops where the fragment no longer clings to
attachments of misfortune and hardship, and finds a way to love the variegated
scenery that life brings -- regardless of the view.
It should come as no surprise that hardships in life are a
fundamental part of the physical plane, and while considerable effort may be put
forth to alleviate occasional harshness, few fragments ever escape without some
cuts and bruises.
Learning to love life in spite of these pitfalls is not about
hiding from the struggles, but about facing the adversity without fear. It's a
choice if you choose to scream about everything that's wrong with your life, as
much as it's a choice if you choose to dwell on those areas that do bring you
happiness. We know of fragments who appeared to achieve everything they ever
wanted, yet continually allowed any feelings of joy to slip through their grasp.
Conversely, we have seen fragments who led lives of terrible poverty find joy in
the simplest of pleasures, such as feeding feral cats, or reveling in the warmth
of the sun on their back as they picked through garbage. Joy is truly relative.
Loving life does not mean excluding what you perceive as bad,
but fearlessly including what you encounter as part of the all-encompassing arc
of your existence. In other words, loving life is about finding joy in the
struggle. Have you not noticed how vibrant life can feel after a period of pain
has passed? It's like a Spring shower that washes away the debris from Winter.
There are similar cycles of cleansing in every incarnation: learn to accept them
and embrace the feelings of renewal that follows.

LIFE ON OTHER PLANES
Q: We all know the basic day-to-day
activities that people in physical existence endure. I'm wondering what the
common activities are for people living on the astral, causal, and any other
planes of existence. I have not seen much information about this in the Michael
books.
MICHAEL: On the astral plane, there is
much study, especially for those who are between lifetimes, because physical
incarnation itself is a form of practical study, so research relative to what
has been encountered and what might be expected in the future can be useful.
Many souls also help those still on the physical plane either as guides or more
generally helping maintain the learning environment so that the "school"
continues to be available as long as it's needed.
The causal plane is not so much a place of study as it is one of exploring
the nature of thought forms themselves and how they create reality. There
continues to be interaction with the physical plane as well as with students on
the astral, especially emphasizing helping evolve belief systems.
The higher planes are no so much about doing as being; in that, they are
more feminine, and the lower planes, more masculine. Those who dwell on the
higher planes don't interact with the lower planes directly as much as provide
the "machinery" for their evolution.

LIFE ON OTHER
PLANETS
Q: How
many light years from Earth is the closest planet with a civilization? Do we
have a name for this planet and do they know about us?
M: Quantitative information of this sort is difficult
to give at this time because this figure changes as one travels through the
universe. Realize that the universe is not a static place, and the objects
contained within it are not static either. Thus, it is difficult at any given
time to state absolutely what the distance of one place to another within the
universe is. We will say, however, that one would look in the range of 53
million to 78 million light-years away in order to find a civilization that one
might consider similar to the one you are a part of now. These places are not
named by you but their existence is known at least on some level. Their
awareness of course does extend toward yours, but do keep in mind that for the
majority of sentient species, your home is more or less a frontier outpost and
is not generally regarded as “civilized”, although the awareness does extend to
the sentience of the species incarnate upon your planet.

LIFE PURPOSE
& LIFE TASK
Q: If the life task is service oriented,
which kind of service is preferable for Servers, Artisans, Warriors, Scholars,
Priests, Sages and Kings?
Servers
tend to find some sort of service wherein they can work
on a one-to-one basis. They like seeing the fruits of their labors, but just as
well enjoy working under the radar, yet where they can later see the results. An
appropriate life-task for the quintessential Server might be: “Applies notions
of humanity to those around you”.
Artisans like to
find new ways of doing things. When choosing to serve others, the Artisan tends
to enjoy something that has a more flamboyant nature, without being loud or
garish. A typical Artisan might choose “Gives others the gift of yourself”.
Warriors are of
course action-oriented. They wish to see results and to have them honored by
others. They tend to see the world in terms of items they can check off on a
clipboard. A service-oriented life task for a Warrior might be “Allows others to
see what lies ahead”.
Scholars tend to
see things that are service-oriented in a more simplistic fashion. As they are
greatly inward themselves, their service, while of an outward nature, generally
serves the few rather than the many. This is not to say of course that the
contribution by the Scholar is not just as important, just different. A typical
Scholar might choose “Generate knowledge through my need for growth and
adjustment.”
Priests are of
course in their element with a life task such ashes. They prefer, of course, a
wider audience and actively seek one. A life task for such a fragment might be
“Postulate on the world views of historical figures.”
Sages are also
audience-oriented, but they are really most effective when quietly serving the
few, even on a one-to-one basis. There the message is clear and the posing of
the Sage ends. A life task might be “Help those around you agree on what is
important.”
Kings
are seldom choosing a service-oriented life task except in the
wider view. A typical King might have the life task “Assist others with seeing
the true nature of life”.

Q. When we Lightworkers give ourselves
and our work over to the Good Side of The Force, but receive no support from the
Universe, is that a sign we should let go? I am trying to clarify my life
purpose, and I KNOW other people are going through this same weird thing:
"giving your talents over to Spirit, and then Spirit lets awful things happen to
the good things you want to build, while supporting the bad things other people
want you to build". What should we do when this happens? I thought Spirit would
benefit from a prime time TV show that teaches nonspiritual people how to go
within and reach their guides - a sort of "Touched By A NonChristian Angel" -
but it got "passed on" (they didn't want it), while a stupid hip hop movie
starring women in scanty clothing using profanity? That, they greenlighted!
What is a new age person who can't find their life purpose supposed to do?
Obviously making movies and TV shows isn't my life purpose, because I want to
work for SPIRIT - and you can't do that in Hollywood.
MICHAEL: Your life purpose isn't centered
in your external accomplishments but in the energy you bring to all that you
undertake. Others will exercise their free will, and that is not your business.
However, as you stay aligned with your essence (higher self), you will be guided
into the work you can do.

LIVING IN THE
PRESENT
Living in the present
could aptly be described as a contented cat that's curled into a ball and
warming itself by a fire. Much can be learned by observing cats. They live in
the present more than any creature we know. All animals live in the present, of
course, but cats in particular have turned it into an art form. Neither
concerned about the past or the future, cats forever focus on the "now." With a
grace and agility in life similar to a ballet dancer, the cat dances through its
existence as if the music never stops. This may sound exhausting to some of you,
but understand that the cat is a creature of the moment; it never concerns
itself with future moments or moments that have slipped away. The cat simply IS.
We see living in the
past, on the other hand, as a giant canvas, splashed chaotically with the
emotions of distant yearnings, lost relationships, and self-resurrecting fears.
Much can be gained, of course, by honoring lessons learned in the past, but to
escape those ghost worlds of former selves -- even selves from only five minutes
ago -- it's important to release the shackles of WHAT WAS.
Conversely, living in
the future is like hanging a frame on your wall without a canvas. You anxiously
live your life concerned about the canvas not painted, yet continue to decorate
your walls with empty frames. Only in the present will your painting -- one
brush stroke at a time -- reach completion.
A suggested exercise (if
you're not averse to taking a walk) can be found on your local park bench.
First, find your bench. Then, quiet your mind and just LISTEN.
Imagine every sound you
hear as a musical instrument and listen to the uniqueness of each rhythmic
phrase. Every sound you hear sings the symphony of the present: you can hear it
in the plaintive whisper of the leaves, in the festive interludes of birds, or
the playful prattle of children. And if you listen carefully, a world that
has long escaped you will gradually reveal itself.
Although it may not be
convenient, the enterprising among you could try this with all five of the
senses. The goal, however, is to tune your awareness to whatever happens in the
present moment. For example, how many instruments in this symphony, figuratively
speaking, can you hear, see, touch, taste, and feel?
After you have the
musical score of this grand work stretched out in front of you, imagine yourself
actually playing the instruments that you sense: be the tree that bends in an
ancient posture of servitude; be the crow that mocks with pundits from above; be
the muddy pond that patiently waits below; be the silence that drifts over the
park in sleepy shadows.
To live
in the present you only need to sense the pulse of everything around you -- this
is the rhythm of life. And when you live in the present, YOU are the conductor.

LOSING ONE'S SOUL
Q. Is it possible to lose one soul? And
if it were to happen is it possible to get it back?
MICHAEL: It is not technically possible
to lose one's soul, but souls can become fragmented, sometimes severely so, and
this is really what is being referred to. The healing is not in getting the soul
back but in reintegrating the parts. Almost every incarnating soul has, at one
time or another, lost relatively small parts of itself from the wear and tear of
the physical plane. It becomes a significant problem when a large subpersonality
is separated from the core awareness through extreme trauma.
There are guides who are trained to help in such situations.

LOVE
<Iris> If we are vessels to hold love and
spread love in our lifetime, then how is
it that sometimes this vessel of mine will spread other than love? Where
does this "other than love" come from?
<DaveGregg> You
refer to
a goal
sought by all fragments during the course of their incarnations. We know
firsthand of the struggles involved in this journey, and want you to
understand that the attainment of Agape is a worthwhile goal even if its
fulfillment eludes your grasp at times.
On
the other hand, if we
condensed Agape into a bowl of soup, for example, and you only managed to get
one spoonful per day, you would still be doing good work. Based on what we can
see of your life, though, we think you are far ahead of most. We sense
that you are too hard on yourself, however, and want to remind you that if you
swallow hot soup all at once it will only scald your throat. There is nothing
wrong in sipping life's lessons one spoonful at a time.
Regarding your vessel, only two energies can occupy its space: love and
fear. Fear is a seduction that's greater than any sexual caress and when it
charms and engulfs your vessel, as you call it, one recourse is to stop
judging the feeling and momentarily accept what it has to offer. Seeing fear
from this perspective allows you to quickly learn what the opposite polarity
feels like. With this comparison there will be less fear of letting go and a
greater ease in releasing negativity.
Fearing fear
is
just as self-perpetuating as loving love, and although we will not say it's
easy, the energy you choose to perpetuate during your lifetime is ultimately
your choice.
CHANNELED BY: David Gregg
Sometimes, love and truth seem to be at
odds. You want to speak your truth to someone, for example, but you love
him and don't want to hurt his feelings.
At their lower levels of manifestation, love and truth can, in
fact, collide, but in their accurate renderings, they are in perfect harmony. In
the example above, if there is a need to discuss an issue with someone, it can
be done in a way that is truthful without being hurtful. The key is working
through the various beliefs that might distort your truth and make it partial
and unfair. When you arrive at a pure statement of your truth, it will not have
an attacking or otherwise pain-inflicting energy.
At the same time, an expression of love truly rendered is not at
the expense of your truth or well-being. Working through unresolved feelings
that might distort love with guilt, misplaced obligation, and so forth, allows
an experience of crystal-clear love that only exalts all concerned, including
yourself.

MATURE SOUL SHIFT
<Jyoti> Would like to know if the whole planet is moving toward
Mature Soul Age then what happens to those infant, baby souls who cannot move at
that rate? Do they experience more pain in their growth.
<Shepherd_Hoodwin> For the most part,
each soul goes at its own pace. That said, the more external stimulation there
is, the faster growth tends to be, although it is still always a matter of the
individual. You obviously live in a time in which there is a great deal of
stress (stimulation) for most people. What the mature shift really means is that
souls of all ages will be increasingly imprinted with mature soul values. The
young soul values that have heretofore imprinting much of your civilization are
beginning to look worn out, especially their negative aspects. People are both
more ready to learn about mature soul values and more exposed to them.
<Jyoti> Would hastening them up not result in some growth being lost in the
process? Would they not feel unwillingly pushed? How can Old souls help them in
their growth?
<Shepherd_Hoodwin> Those who feel over
stimulated sometimes react negatively. It's not that growth is lost; it's a
different kind of growth--a different set of choices to be made compared to when
life is quieter. Some simply choose to remove themselves from the "fast lane" if
they can. Some burn out. Generally, physically younger people adapt more easily
to any societal change. Older souls can help add a reassurance that all is well,
that although some things are breaking down, other things are building up.

MENTAL ILLNESS
<Cat Eyes>
I work with the
Mentally ill. What does Michael think about the mentally ill. Are most of them
in a certain soul age? Or are some of their roles the same? I've noticed a lot
of similarities in some of the older adults. Are they more sensitive to
subtleties around them? What makes them talk to themselves, get paranoid, and
have delusions?
<Melissa> Do people suffering
from multiple personality disorder exhibit past life personalities?
<DaveGregg> There
are more
causes for what your current culture would deem "mental illness" than we can
effectively cite within the limitations of this session. In most cases, however,
the mentally ill are those fragments who suffer from either biological or
neurochemical irregularities in the brain. Hypersensitive fragments exposed to
environmental stress or severe psychological trauma can also exhibit signs of
mental illness.
In extremely rare cases, some
fragments may possess psychic sensitivities so great that they are unable to
discern between physical and astral realities. This chaotic blend of the two
realms usually results in total madness.
Fragments who talk to themselves
or experience delusions are usually just manifesting the inherent symptoms of
their illness. On the other hand, those who have the ability to reach beyond the
veil of the physical are often interacting with actual discarnates from the
lower planes of the astral.
While it's true that genetics can
play a role in developing a mental illness, many fragments choose these
lifetimes for the challenges they bring. Certain kinds of mania can also boost
levels of creativity and insight, and although choosing a lifetime like this
could be considered walking on a tightrope, some artistic or scientific-minded
souls have chosen such incarnations in hopes of giving themselves an edge.
Multiple personalities, on the
other hand, are often sub-personalities or conflicting parts of self that seek
to express themselves. These are not actual fragments from a past life coming
through, but shadows, if you will, of previous overleaves or certain aspects
from past lives that haven't been thoroughly assimilated.

MIRRORING
Another tool that can be used when dealing with a challenging
personality is a technique we call "mirroring." This technique can be used to
deal with the negative pole of any overleaf, but lets take the attitudes as an
example.
If you can identify the negative pole of the attitude
projected by a fragment, an effective response is to mirror a reflection of the
positive pole from their complementary attitude. For example, if the fragment is
in the negative pole of skeptic, try to reflect the positive pole of idealism.
The intention is to become a mirror of the most appropriate behavior. This, of
course, is a variant on the hands-across technique, but in this case, you are
doing the work for the other person. By practicing this, you are employing a
fundamental law of social conditioning, where the most consistent pattern of
behavior is eventually adopted. If the individual is not completely shut down,
this technique can be surprisingly effective.
Questions may arise concerning the manipulative nature of
this technique, but we see the technique as a means to help move the energy of
another fragment in a positive way. It is, after all, a choice, if someone
chooses to adopt the patterns you are modeling.
On the other hand, mirroring is most effective when it is
given with a sincere interest in assisting another soul on their journey. Using
the technique to simply "get something" from another person, is not good work,
and not the purpose we envision when using this tool.

MISTAKES
Mistakes should
not be feared. They are necessary stepping-stones towards what you wish to
accomplish in life and where you most need to improve. Mistakes are simply
cracks in your veneer that may later be polished out; they're not blemishes in
your past or painful experiences best forgotten, but opportunities for greater
understanding.
Every mistake you make
is rich with potential. Every wrong turn, every setback, every blunder you kick
yourself over offers the potential to see firsthand how choice shapes your path
in life. The potential in every decision you make is a ripened fruit that bursts
with the flavor of new experience. Mistakes are not emissaries sent to remind
you of your failures, but simple reminders that you live your life without fear
of the occasional misstep and make no apologies for it.
Continuously making the
same mistakes, however, indicates a reluctance to examine the underlying reasons
behind your choices. It may be helpful here to think of your choices as a
reflection of your emotional state. An emotional world clouded by irrational
impulses, for example, negates your ability to make decisions from a center of
balance, and creates a loop that limits your choices and drives you to repeat
the same mistakes. You can alleviate this by knowing when you make choices from
a state of imbalance.
Making choices during times of stress is a
fundamental lesson of the physical plane, and split-second decisions can be a
life or death necessity. In many situations, however, you have the luxury of
making choices with greater deliberation. In such cases it is helpful to gauge
your emotional state before making a decision. If your stomach churns or surges
of anxiety race through your body, for instance, take some time to re-center
yourself. This can be as easy as clearing your mind with a brief meditation.
In the grander scheme,
choices are neither good nor bad, but some choices feel better than others.
Therefore, to learn from those choices you deem as mistakes, you need to
recognize they were mistakes in the first place. With that realization it's then
a matter of tracing the progression of choices that led to the mistake, and
identifying where in this train of decisions the derailment occurred. More
succinctly, when you realize your choices have been the result of random
impulses, you then learn to make your choices more consciously. Unstructured
thinking, irrational impulses, or a lack of focus, are the most common reason
for repeating the same mistakes over and over again.
Regarding the application of an exercise
here, the best way we know of to learn from your mistakes is to MAKE them. There
is no intrinsic value in frantically trying to avoid all mistakes, as mistakes are
part of the physical experience and in most cases your life will not be
extinguished if you make one.
The duality of success and failure is an
illusion of those who find more comfort in relying on what they fear than what
they trust. Allow your life to unfold naturally; there is no need to force it.
You have more than enough time to get things right, so savor the moments when
you get things wrong -- you may one day cherish those moments more than you
currently realize.

MOTIVATION
Q. What are some good ways for people who
lack motivation to do things that they don't love to do but need to do? How can
people cause themselves to be interested in things that they consider boring?
MICHAEL: One approach is to view boring,
repetitive activities as spiritual exercises to practice focusing the mind.
Sometimes people repeat mantras to transcend the physical; repetitive tasks
could be used like mantras.
Q. How can people who take good care of
their health gain that energy and vigor that so many people seem to possess?
MICHAEL: Athletic training can be helpful
here. Those who think they don't like exercise might find a form of it they do
like.
Casual team sports can turn exercise into a social event.

MICHAEL CHANNELS
Q:
What are your thoughts about invalidating Michael channels, or
those who say they channel Michael? In other words, witch hunts.
A: Any endeavor that results in the condemnation of
another is not
what was intended when we originally taught about validation. There
is little value in criticism when it doesn't emanate from a place of
love. To dismiss another is to dismiss ourselves, and all hope of
achieving anything good from the action is ultimately lost. There
will, however, be lessons learned from such choices.
A student who requests contact with us will make contact. Period.
Whether or not they choose to listen, or lack the innate skills to
maintain a fruitful exchange, is not as important as the act itself.
Every connection made to us, no matter how small, enhances the scope
of the teachings and this is good work.
We are here to guide our students with or without the help of a
channel. We do this both intellectually and energetically. If a
channel is blocking our transmission, either purposely or due to a
fundamental lack, we are quite capable of planting the necessary
seed in the mind of any student who requests our guidance.

MUSIC
<Glenn> Please comment on how we may utilize
music as a universal language to communicate with other fragments. Is music the
language of emotions and the soul? How may we best articulate it?
<DaveGregg>
Music is already being used quite effectively. While at times it is more
commercial than artistic, we do not judge the mechanics of the expression -- it
is what it is.
We agree that
music is a universal solvent, if you will, that can indeed dissolve cultural
differences and reveal interesting commonalities that exist between others. And
it is true that music carries within its relentless pulse the rhythm of the
soul. But it's through the beauty of individual expression that music truly
soars.
In its highest
form, music incorporates the three centers: intellectual, emotional, and moving.
When this triad is properly balanced, it could be said that music has reached
it's pinnacle of expression.
The
understanding that comes from comparing and contrasting the centers is one
missing component in music that could connect other fragments together. Music
that communicates at higher levels typically involves an expression of these
centers. By immersing yourself in music, either through listening or
performance, there's an opportunity to gain a greater appreciation for how the
centers operate.
Using music and
the centers as a vehicle of expression not only helps in understanding the
mechanics of the centers, but also helps in understanding how people use their
centers on a daily basis. Anytime you can comprehend the inner workings of
another soul, even in seemingly insignificant ways, you are a step closer to
discovering the commonalities that tie humanity together. It all begins with one
person.
Using music as
a portal to the higher centers is another effective way to connect to others,
since you are momentarily perceiving them from the perspective of your higher
self. To those of you who can access the higher centers through music, we
suggest that you try to observe the people around you while you're in these
euphoric states. Notice how your perspective about them starts to change. For a
brief moment you will literally see people through the eyes of essence. This in
itself can be enlightening for many. Allowing yourself to realize, for example,
how judgmental your views about others have been, and how much of your daily
world is being twisted and distorted by the filtering lens of false personality,
can be a transformative experience.

MYTHICAL ANIMALS
Q. Many people are drawn to mythical
animals such as dragons and unicorns as well as wizards and all things magical.
Have we (as humans) ever had a benign relationship with these animals and
magical beings on this planet? Have we had this type of relationship as another
species on another planet or on another plane?
MICHAEL:
Mythical animals are mostly
memories from other planets, but spirit guides and devas sometimes take these
forms because of their symbolic resonance. Wizards, etc., are those skilled at
working with energy. Fairies, elves, etc. are human perceptions of devas (nature
spirits).
