Don't overleaves affect one's ability to achieve a state of happiness? Isn't it easier with some combinations than others?

Michaelgrp: Some overleaves can be more obstructive in the achievement of happiness than others because they are chosen for Karma completion. Cynic, for example, however, even a Cynic, can achieve true happiness if they are willing to surrender to love and if its more important to them to be loved than to be right. It is very easy to live in the intellectual concept that life sucks and to manifest being right about that every day. If you get more satisfaction out of being right, than out of being happy, then cynic or not, no matter what your overleaves, you will continue to prove to yourself on a daily basis that happiness is not available. Extinguishing the Overleaves

We talked of changing the overleaves and the teacher’s mention of “quieting” them.

“EXTINGUISHING” WAS THE WORD USED, BUT PERHAPS THIS IS A HARSH WORD, AS “QUIETING” DOES SOUND EASIER. THE POSITIVE POLES OF THE OVERLEAVES — THIS IS THE GOAL. ONCE REACHED, YOU ARE IN ESSENCE; ALL IS EQUAL. STUDY AGAIN THE WORDS WE GAVE YOU IN DEFINING THE ACTION OF THE POSITIVE POLES OF THE OVERLEAVES. THERE IS NO QUALITATIVE DIFFERENCE.

If Original Group Had Focused Less on Overleaves

If the original group in the early 70s had focused less on overleaves, is there some other part(s) of the MT that might have been released then, changing everything since? That is, was there anything you would have liked to get into but they didn't ask?

MICHAEL: The group we first spoke to in the area of California had to be brought along in the teachings as one would a group of people who lack exposure to any new way of thinking. It took many sessions to bring them even to a partial understanding of the concept of reincarnation as we understand it.

We expected this and we made allowances for the effort it took for them to grasp many of the concepts that you now take very much in stride. Knowing that there would be this chasm to cross, we left many things unsaid that we expected to offer at a later date. Which we are doing now.

Would anything have changed, perceptively, if we had opened the sluice gates on this small group of fragments? One change might have been a complete shutdown of their ability to comprehend and so an aborting of their agreement with us! We always measure the receptivity of our students and since we have not the same outlook on time as do you, we are not dismayed that it may take more than one generation, in fact it may take several, to complete our work.

The choices that are made are made on all sides. We made/make choices, those you call the original group made choices, and you are now making choices. We do not see this as anything to be concerned about. We do see it as the unfolding of events as these choices dictate. There will be a steady stream of advanced material coming into the community of our students. We have alerted several channels of this and have obtained their agreement to receive these teachings. Over the next decade or so there will be additional material added to the basics that you are all aware of.

They do not, will not, refute what has gone before. Truth is truth and does not alter to time. But the expression of truth does alter somewhat to circumstances. Now that the groundwork has been laid for them, we will build upon the foundation with more truths that can be applied to your world.

Overleaves and Essence

Are all overleaves in essence?

NO: THEY ARE ALL IN PERSONALITY.

Are they chosen on the basis of karma?

FIRST OF ALL, THE LOCALE, THE SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS, THE PARENTS YOU CHOSE — ALL ARE FORMATIVE IN PROGRAMMING THE BIOCOMPUTER. THESE OVERLEAVES ARE CHOSEN BY THE SOUL TO BE ACTED OUT IN LIFE, INDEPENDENT MOST OF THE TIME OF THE WISHES OF THE ESSENCE. THE SOUL CHOSE THEM TO COMPLETE THE SPECIFIC TASK. THE SOUL DESIRES SIMPLICITY AND FREEDOM, MAKING A SPLIT BETWEEN SOUL AND ESSENCE.

We don’t take the personality with us when we die. Do we leave it here?

THAT IS CORRECT. THE SOUL ON THE ASTRAL PLANE IS DEVOID OF FALSE PERSONALITY.

Why do we choose such things as [the Goal of] Rejection, [the Chief Feature of] Self-destruction, and so forth and so on?

THE SOUL, SANS BODY, TENDS TO FORGET THE INTENSITY OF THE EXPERIENCE AND THE PAIN. THIS IS YOUR OBJECTIVE: DETACHED REVIEW. WE WOULD SUGGEST TO YOU ALL THAT YOU BEGIN TO THINK OF GOALS IN TERMS OF LANDINGS ON THE INFINITE STAIRCASE, AND THAT YOU FIXATE, IF YOU MUST, ON AN INTERMEDIATE GOAL RATHER THAN THE “ULTIMATE GOAL”. WE ARE NOT IN SIGHT OF THAT ONE YET.

Learning To Channel Overleaves

Are there roles better suited than others to channeling overleaves?

MICHAEL: It is not so much a function of role as it is the ability to hold fine distinctions in mind.

Does centering make a difference?

MICHAEL: It helps if there is a sensitivity to language. Scholars and sages tend to have this regardless of centering. Otherwise, having either an intellectual center or part of center is helpful, but not required.

Do you have suggestions for the beginning channel who wishes to start with overleaves?

MICHAEL: Go slowly and carefully; avoid jumping to conclusions. Put self aside.

Is an extensive conscious knowledge of the overleaves necessary to channel them?

MICHAEL: It is very helpful. The lack of clear understanding in the channel can lead to unconscious filtering.

Does it cause confusion if we mix energies to channel overleaves (two or more fragments at a time trying to bring in the overleaves together)?

MICHAEL: Not necessarily. It can actually help if there is singularity of purpose.
