In this society, we would say the majority, yes. To stimulate it, of course, it must be 
presented with challenges, not struggles.

When the Essence has to struggle, it refuses. Struggling is not worth the effort and it 
knows this. Insoluble problems are good examples of struggles that the Personality 
loves and the Essence flees from through boredom. 

Question: What is Essence challenge?

Spiritual growth, for example. All forms of studious endeavor when undertaken for the 
sheer joy of the undertaking. Some forms of religious pursuit. Work that is in Essence 
[Role]. That is to say, for instance, painting was in Essence for the Old Artisan Raphael 
and his Essence was not bored. 

Question: What is in Essence for Warriors besides fighting?

Many positions involving administrations and leadership. Even supervisory positions in 
public recreation areas. We know of many Mature and Old Warriors in this country now 
working as park rangers and their Essences are not bored.

THE FALLACY IN YOUR INTERPRETATION OF THE [Werner] ERHARD TRAINING IS IN YOUR STUBBORN INSISTENCE THAT YOU LOVE YOUR MISERY. WE DO NOT HEAR THE MAN WERNER SAYING THIS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO ENDURE AN UNPLEASANT SITUATION WITH GRACE, BUT THE GOAL IS TO STEP FROM IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, NOT STAY THERE AND GRIND YOUR MOLARS.
THE MAN ROBERT HEINLEIN HIT UPON AN ACCIDENTAL TRUTH IN HIS EPIC. (Stranger in a Strange Land, no doubt.) HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THIS TRUTH, BUT WAS ABLE TO WRITE ABOUT IT: YOU APPREHEND THE SITUATION FULLY, LOVE IT AS A PART OF THE UNIVERSAL FLOW, AND THEN YOU LET IT GO — AND BY LETTING GO WE MEAN DOWN TO THE LAST VESTIGE: NO RESENTMENT, NO REGRETS. THERE ARE IN LIFE STRUGGLES, AND TRUE GOALS [of essence] AND FALSE GOALS [of ego], AND WHEN YOUR WILL IS CENTERED UPON ACHIEVING A FALSE GOAL, THEN YOU ARE AT ODDS WITH THE FLOW, AND YOUR ESSENCE WILL FIGHT THIS, AND THIS IS WHERE THE [internal] DISCOMFORT COMES IN. EVEN STEPS ARE USED BY SOME AS GOALS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO REASONABLY DEFINE A GOAL FOR THEMSELVES — FOR INSTANCE, LET US DISCUSS THE PHYSICIAN’S ROLE IN YOUR WORLD. IN ORDER FOR THE TRUE PERSONALITY TO EMERGE, THE STUDENT MUST BE IN A FIRM STATE OF BALANCE, AND IF THE CENTERS ARE BALANCED, ALL WORK WILL BE FROM THE POSITIVE POLES OF ALL OVERLEAVES. IN FACT, AT THAT MOMENT THE WHOLE CONCEPT OF OVERLEAVES BECOMES OBSOLETE. BALANCED MAN IS NOT A VICTIM OF HIS OVERLEAVES ANY LONGER. THIS IS, OF COURSE, WHY THE WORK IS TO STRIVE FOR BALANCE, AND WHY WE ATTEMPT TO EFFECT THOSE EXERCISES THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE THE WORK YOU NEED TAILOR MADE.

Someone asked about the personality of essence. What is it? Could Michael describe it? Traits?

THE TRUE PERSONALITY PERCEIVES THE ONENESS AND DOES NOT FEEL APARTNESS. THUS IT IS EXPANSIVE IN ITS EXPRESSION. THE TRUE PERSONALITY DOES NOT NEED THE PAIN, FOR IT HAS ACCESS TO THE JOY, AND AGAIN, CAN EXPRESS THIS IN THE WORLD. THE TRUE PERSONALITY KNOWS TRUTH, AND THEREFORE HAS NO FURTHER USE FOR LIES. ABOVE ALL, THE TRUE PERSONALITY IS APPROPRIATE IN ITS RESPONSE TO EACH AND EVERY SITUATION. OF COURSE, THIS IS MANIFESTED IN THE WORLD AS JOYOUSNESS, AS WARMTH, AS A VERY SPECIAL RADIANCE, AS A HIGH ENERGY COURSE OF A POSITIVE NATURE. HOWEVER, FALSE PERSONALITY IS UNCOMFORTABLE AROUND THIS TRUE PERSONALITY, AND THE FARTHER REMOVED FROM A TEACHING ONE IS, THE MORE UNCOMFORTABLE ONE WILL BE WHEN FACED WITH AN ENCOUNTER WITH BALANCED MAN. And if I try to contact with my Essence consciously at these hard times, what could change?

MICHAEL: Essence is wholly compassionate towards you and is supportive of your life in a general way. At the same time, Essence always sees without the veil of Maya through which all human being must operate. Therefore Essence can be objective, which means compassion but not interference. Essence is not going to alter a life plan because the fragment living it is unhappy with the choices. Those who can offer assistance through hard times are your guides. Essence knows the plan, knows the hardships that the soul is experiencing, but leaves the detail of commiseration and even assistance to them. Others who will respond when asked are your entity mates and your cadence mates who are discarnate.

MICHAEL: When we say that it is unnecessary to go about connecting with Essence as though one were placating a god, we mean merely that there is no need for ritual that must be followed in a precise fashion or it will not work. This is the basis for superstition: If I walk three times around the circle with my hands held just so and say the following words backwards
. . . No, there is no ritual to connecting with Essence. However, we understand your need for some guidance in this matter and we make these suggestions:

Since you often shower, why not use a good showering to start yourself off in the frame of mind that may lead to the desired end? During the shower you might bring your intention to mind, the things you would like to 'talk over' with Essence. Then, after toweling and robing, you might sit comfortably and bring yourself into a meditative mood. If visualizations are useful to you, visualize Essence sitting across from you, in what ever guise you find attractive. Every fragment is different in this respect.

Some will like to imagine Essence as a firelight, others clothe it in human form. IT does not matter. Any form is appropriate for something that is essentially formless. Then hold conversation with your Essence. Talk over your concerns, leaving some quiet time between for Essence to respond. It does not matter if you do not 'hear' the responses. Be assured that they do happen. When you have finished your conversation, sit quietly for some moments, allowing the energy that has been created between you to become more fully a part of your own. That is one way.

It may be after some practice at this, that you can enter your dialogue with Essence while walking the dog, or resting your eyes at your desk, or in any other place where you can turn your thoughts to it. We do not recommend that you attempt Essence contact while driving your automobile. It is certainly possible, but you may find that your attention to what you are doing is less than perfect. (Smiles) No one should imagine that our suggestions concerning the shower is at all necessary, either. It is just a reasonable starting point and may help.

UNTIL THEN YOU CAN BE SURE THAT THE PERSONALITY IS REACTING TO A PROPOSITION WHICH SEEMS THREATENING. YOU WERE ALWAYS TIRED BUT YOUR WORK ETHIC WOULD NOT ALLOW YOU TO REST. AT LEAST NOW YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF THAT TO SOME EXTENT.

When we see the negative side of something, is this from personality rather than essence?

WE WOULD AGREE WITH THAT.

There is no positive or negative in essence. True?

WE WOULD AGREE WITH THAT. BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER THAT IN ESSENCE ONE EXPERIENCES, ONE DOES NOT EVALUATE. WE WOULD POINT OUT THAT THAT WHICH IS THE SOUL OPERATING FROM ESSENCE FEELS THAT WHICH WE CALLED “AGAPE”, AND THAT IS A FEELING OF TRANQUILLITY, OF PEACE, AND WE DOUBT THAT THE PERSONALITY OF MANY EARTHBOUND SOULS WOULD CONSIDER THESE PARTICULARLY STRONG EMOTIONS.

Is everyone’s essence bored?
